A quick review of some of the most commonly purchased Matrix shafts. It's reply #10.

Unfortunately, that shaft does not have the same properties as the Xcon-5 from Matrix. It's a shaft made for TaylorMade by Matrix. The weight and torque are both different.
Just thought I'd mention that in case someone was looking to have one installed in another driver and tried the one in the Tour Burner.
That being said, the Matrix shafts in the Callaway drivers are actual Oziks with the same specifications as ones directly from Matrix.
It's not pollution when one states the facts for others who might be trying a shaft made for a manufacturer and then installs one directly from Matrix expecting the same properties...
Since you disagree, I will post specification directly from both sites to educate other members who might be interested.

If you notice the highlighted properties, you will see the specifications are not the same. The only Matrix shafts that are the same specifications with TaylorMade logos are ones directly off the Tour, not made for retail.
It's the same thing as Cobra and the L4VX and Diamana Redboard. The shaft is made for Cobra to work best with the head it is going into.
This is not a new practice.....It's been going on for years with all manufacturers.
That's your opinion, however, they are not the same shaft whether they play the same for you or not.
Those are straight up facts I posted, not an opinion.
I might have a knockoff Scotty and an original. They might both feel the same in my opinion, but it does not make the knockoff real.
I have done some research and have asked a reputable Matrix distributor. The X-Con in the Tour Burner is indeed the real deal, the same one you'd buy from a Matrix retailer but minus the TM paint scheme. As for the discrepencies with the specs, he's not sure why that is.
And although they are .350 tips, the Oziks in the Cally I-mix line up are the real deal as well.
I hate to burst yours and his bubble sir, but the information I received from TM is in fact that the shaft was created for the Tour Burner head. As I said before, the only "REAL" Matrix shafts with TM Graphics are the ones available on Tour. If someone is lucky enough to grab one of them up, they do indeed have a shaft that exactly the same as you buy directly from Matrix.
So unless the tech guys in Carlsbad at TaylorMade have no idea what they are talking about, which I highly doubt, then the discrepancies in specs are because as they said, the shaft is made specifically for the Tour Burner TP head.

Someone is feeding the wrong info somewhere along the line. He's a Matrix distributor in the states and has asked the same question and was told it is the same shaft. I personally don't care, I was just searching for some answers. He should have a talk with his rep to get this cleared up. I know, even if I had the money, I wouldn't buy the upgrade from TM knowing I'm getting a "made for" and not a true Matrix, if that's the case.
There's no price difference between any of the TP models in the Tour Burner TP though, so you're not paying more for the Matrix shaft, which is a bit odd considering it's almost a $400 shaft retail.
There is however a price difference between the Adams Idea Pro Gold when you choose the Ozik Altus Hybrid over the Javelin, so that might be a good indication right there.
We had a lot of questions about it, so our CPGA Pro who is a TaylorMade player is in tight with these guys in Carlsbad. He plays the Pro-Am in Mexico with them, so I don't think they'd feed him false information.
That would probably be why there isn't an upcharge, because it's not a "real" Matrix. I'd be shocked if the quality was as good as a "real" Matrix. Not to say it's not a quality shaft, but makes you wonder with no upcharge for the shaft. There must be corners cut somewhere.....
Certainly weird there is no upcharge....since I had a $300 upcharge for the Matrix in my FT-5. :irked:
