She would have no shot at all. Not long enough. Wie is long enough but she has lost her mojo. I for one hope she gets it back but BJ really screwed that kid up.
I'm not saying she should do it, but she is longer off the tee (according to this year's stats) than the following:
Corey Pavin, Gavin Coles, and Brad Faxon.
Yes, that means she would be very near the bottom in driving distance but if she could keep it in the fairway she could have a chance assuming the rest of her game was razor sharp.
IMO, I think that Ochoa is long enough to match up with PGA players in the 270 yard range.....remember that she is probably around 110 pounds soaking wet....she gets it out good on a per weight basis. However, I am not sure if she is consistent and accurate enough to be competitive with the men. Just my opinion.
Dave
what % of fairways does she hit with that distance? Cause I'm pretty sure all the guys you just mentioned are near the top in fairways hit :)
Also, do to know if they calc mens and womens dirver distance the same way. I know on mens they only use certain holes or something like that?
She hits 63% of fairways according to the LPGA. Pavin hits 67%.
I'm pretty sure they use the same calculation method for distance as the men. Of course the men's courses are probably tighter.
Either way, I think she's got the length. But as demonstrated by Annika, she would have to bring her A+ game to have any chance of competing.
let's all just be happy that she's not as stupid as Wie and Annika. I know Annika gave it a go and did good, but come on... when has making the cut ever been a goal?? You don't see a WNBA player wanting to play for the Lakers? So why in golf, we all know golf is just like anyother sport.
