Is it me or does it seem like there is a lot less people on the course?
Summer vacations are over. Faster rounds now.
For sure but I found there a lot less players on the course all season long.I don"t play weekends but nonetheless. Is there truth to talk that the interest in the game is declining? Too many courses?More member courses?
I love late & early season golf, just the die-hard addicts out there.
It's Septembrrrrrrrrr
Played there yesterday from home ,back home again(20 minute drive both ways)
18 holes plus pro shop ,getting clubs in and out of car.
3 hours and 40 minutes(twosome)
That's great fall GOLF
Played Greensmere this morning, I was by myself so only 2:45 for 18 walking. Conditions were great, I love fall golf!
Just "GOLFERS" having a good time--no waiting--got to love spring and fall. Played with Bruce-Steve and Geoff at MC--3 1/2 hours :-)
Played yesterday :-) it was great, quiet and peaceful
I have heard rumblings from some course owners that rounds played is down this year. Weather overall has not been the greatest (June blew big time), plus it seems people are making less effort to make the time. Count me in as the latter :grumpy: even though I was going to make a concentrated effort to get out more. Did not play hooky from work near enough this year! As for weather, last weekend was gorgeous and it seemed all of the courses were packed. It seems Ottawa is a bit of a fair weather golf town!Quote:

Same at Outaouais, quite busy the whole day (according to person who works there)... Show up as single and I played with two members at 15:45. According to them, most of the members are quite active and like to play rain or shine… true golfers… and outstanding facilities…<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Wednesday was the first time I wore a jacket since spring, Hate to say it but you know what is coming so enjoy it while you can. Have to put my leaf blower in my bag:hyper:
LOL! I was thinking of taking out my 3 or 4 iron and attaching a broom so i could atleast make a line to the hole. I have however 2 putted through mounds before. Just give it a good smack. :-)Quote:

"Ironmaster" does your leafblower run on batteries and if so --will they last the whole round? :-) Our leaves are still on the trees up here--maybe we can play till Xmas :-)
.......Leaf blower works on a 12 volt battery as does the snow blower which is used a little later in the season:hyper:Quote:

Got behind 3 ladies each of htem respectfully awful and slow the other day. I played 4 balls and practied putting adn chpiping on each green behind them. One lady shot 23 on a par 5.... If your that BAD and SLOW you have NO BUSINES being on the course IMO. I didn't go to the course for a while until I knew I could atleast hit it off the tee some of the time and keep pace. Apart from that I love Fall golf.
I'd say Mid October is when it gets truly baron and since it gets dark around 5:30-6PM there is no one that pays green fees. Awesome time for membership people ;) if you can stand a little cold.
I understand your beef with slow players to a certain limit. Practice swings are very important to feel what you are trying to do. Now if you play 100 and don’t care if you two putt within 6 feet, that is your problem and not the lower handicap player that applies himself to bring out the best in his ability.Quote:

Thats good "ironmaster" I could not picture someone hauling around 6600 yards of extension cord--and not only that---think of the voltage drop! :-)
....I haven't tried 2 rounds on one charge cause I'm afraid the car won't start after my rounds.:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: And by the way that battery does get pretty heavy after about 12 holes:rolleyesQuote:

Find a straight 12 foot putt on the practice green.Quote:

You can also place a chalk line up to 12 feet. The chalk line will help you see if you pull or push your stroke. You should finish with a square putter face when we finish to the hole, not an open or closed putter face.
This drill done over and over again will give you amazing confidence and make you believe you can make anything within 12 feet. It will also relieve a lot of stress on your chipping since you won’t need to chip it very close.
You can also incorporate your putting routine.
Finally someone who gets the thread!!!!Quote:

I play alot of public courses quite often during the week. I get the impression that the courses this year have been significantly less crowded. I would be curious to hear from those employed at such facilities.
In addition, is it me or is Ottawa Golf Forum becoming the new Pennysaver?
FORGET YOUR FN BOOMBOX FOR SALE!!!LETS TALK ABOUT GOLF!!!!!!!!
