I was going to take april 11th :( But someone already had it
Why did you feel you could not pick that day? It ain't over 'till the first ball in the region is hit!
This really belongs in the contest thread.
i knew I could pick that day, they were already picks I think or I thought more people were likely to take that day so I picked a week earlier so I wouldn't have to draw for the prize :) I could still win perhaps.. still two days left then I have beat hacker in the draw.
I also thought some course would be crazy enough to open just to get a 1 a few weeks head start $$$
Very good news. I don't know how the courses can predict that already, but, sounds great!
Best case scenarios at this point. :thumbsup
the weather forcast for the next 10 days spells MELT SNOW:D
Check this out.....:goodvibes :goodvibes :banana :banana :hyper:

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
Finally bought a new set of irons at Nevada Bobs today... Some shiny new Ping i10's. After years of playing with aging Ping Eye 2's and "modernizing" recently with Ping i3 Blades, I decided to reap whatever benefit there is from NEW irons for the first time in 15+ years.
They keep saying technology improves and it can help your game - the TM r7 Steel fairway woods I bought last year sure showed that... I wonder what these irons are going to do for me.
If only the stupid snow would disappear - I'd been playing for almost two weeks by this time last year!!!
According to my GF's sister Kingston did not get as much snow as us...so Layalist opening first is not that big of a surprise! :thumbsup
I have been super grumpy lately...need to get out bad!
If today is any indication of the weather we are expecting, the snow should be gone very soon...I can see grass on my lawn...
Dan you might want to add these to the calendar........
Ottawa Clublink courses opening April 30th.

I can't help but think that some of those dates will be moving up after this week.
Who wants to help me shovel to get to my shed and get my cart? Alright--let's go :-)
Loyalist in Kingston will open Sunday morning April 13 at 10:00 AM.
Enjoy!
The snow is nearly gone in my yard, but now I have 15" of dog poo..... hmm! The snow was more pleasant to shovel~~ :(
Wait for next Friday to pick it up it will all be dried up by then. Gotta love that long range forecast. Manderley here I come. Then Mt. Creek, then Calabogie, then Le Sorcier, then Cloverdale , then Emerald Links. Anyway you get the picture.
I was out at Metcalfe doing some work today. It's a good thing they are scheduled for an April 25th opening. There is still a fair bit of snow on the ground in places.
I think some of the courses in and around the Ottawa area are being "alittle over optimistic" with the planned opening dates they are releasing.
Talk to some of the greenskeepers and they will certainly give you a different date than what the Proshops are telling people. Hmmmmm...........do you think it might have something to do with selling memberships for the season and many golfers have not "cut the cheque" yet for the membership because they will likely be on the course 3-4 weeks less than previous years ..........:scratchch
The dates are all tentative. :rolleyes
There is no need to be accusing anyone of foul play. We don't need that. Go to the range and blow off some steam.
True Dan, but PEI does have some truth in that. there is a long way to go yet in Ottawa and it is likely that those dates wont be the dates they actually open. Im thinking at least a week later. Those Proshop guys must be as anxious as us!
I fully expect some dates to be adjusted as plans firm up.
I objected to the implication that courses would post an unrealistic opening dates in order to encourage members to pay up sooner. Some people like to look for conspiracy where none exists. I guess Mother Nature was in on this one.
Went by Cloverdale Links last night and its pretty bare.Only a few spots with snow,so they must want to open up in the very near future.
really, I expect some courses to be open sooner than we think, the snow is almost gone, one or two warm days will take care of what's left. From what I've heard, and judging by my front lawn and what I see, I expect the ground to dry up pretty quickly. The posher courses will allow more time for the courses to green up as they always do. It's going to be looking good mid week and I think we are on track for the weekend openings.
We are suppose to get 18 degree weather next weekend. That should help alot; especially if it's windy. Should really dry things up!!! :)
