Need some help.
I'm sure you've got help by now, but you might want to specify if you mean a standalone unit or a DVD-R/RW drive for a computer.
A stand alone unit lads. LG, just bought it at Best Buy.
If you mean a DVD recorder as in a VCR replacement, what do you need help with, I have a Sony HDD DVD recorder.
I have a few kicking around at work as well......
Has to do with my PVR. Want to record some cartoons for the toddler that she can watch at the cottage.
You can record at home, transport the PVR and still play them back if that is what your wondering. If you want other info shoot me a PM Donny
I think he wants to burn stuff he's saved on the pvr? Should be able to run the 'out' cables on the pvr directly to an 'in' port on the dvdr, whether they're rca or component + audio.
Exactly.
You guys have done that before? Doesn't touch it in the instructions at all.
I don't have a dvdr, but that's what I used to do if I was duping a particularly sweet vhs tape (Hot Dog, Porkys, etc) back in the day.
The one caveat is I don't think it will work if you just do a straight HDMI connection. I've never tried it but I think I've read HDMI has a built in copyright protection that won't allow it. I think it has to be done via RCA or component + audio. I could be wrong on that though.
Hope your toddler has better taste than mine. Getting a bit sick of Max and Ruby....
Thing is, my PVR is connected to say, Input 2 on the TV. So to play what a cartoon from the PVR, my tv is on input 2. How can a DVD recorder record what's playing if the outputs have the RCA cables already in it? I might be missing something simple, but it's eluding me!
Run the PVR 'out' directly to the DVDR 'in' and then run the DVDR 'out' to the 'in you normally use on the tv. You don't need to hook it up to the tv to record on the DVDR, but it will allow you to see what you're recording.
Figured it out, I could do what you're saying but I need an S Video out on my DVD recorder, which this one doesn't have. Back to Best Buy...
If I have to watch the Doodlebops, or one more episode of Max & Ruby I might shoot myself!!!
Glad it worked - cheers,
Mine is into Little Einsteins, Franny's Feet and Handy Manny...
