Go to OVGA.org, Tournaments, A Class Ladder. There you will find the ratings based solely on scores made in tournaments The numbers do not lie.Quote:

The numbers may not lie, but the results as you said are only based on OVGA tournaments, which public players have no access to.
The RCGA does not consider anyone who is not an RCGA club member to be a golfer. Ridiculous IMO.
That is why I was asking for everyone choices.
Choices? We get to pick?
I only know one of the guys on the list. Dru Lefave - owner of Golf-O-Max.
In another week or so we will be adding rankings to our handicapping system. It is unofficial, but all who have entered scores will be ranked relative to all others.
Did you really expect to have heard of all these local amateur's? They don't exactly get a lot of print, and there are many good golfers in the area. I couldn't even begin to say who the top 5 are, but Dan Kilbank has got to be among them.Quote:

I guess somebody convinced the RCGA folks that a computer at home is no different than a computer in the clubhouse.
What is a GAO public player membership?Quote:

The GAO fee is $75/year (I think) with price breaks for multi-year membership. The membership fee gets you a bunch of stuff (Rule book, bag tags, magazine subscription, etc) and access to the handicap system.
The QGA (Quebec Golf Association) has a similar program. Ottawa is actually governed by the OVGA, which is part of the QGA, but I didn't find out about the Quebec program until after I had joined the Ontario one.
Todd Falco has to be one of the top 3 for sure!
I think the numbers might lie somewhat in that Alan McGee is IMO one of the top three ams. His status as "public golfeur" means he has not been allowed to play in OVGA events. I assume this is because he plays at Eagle Creek and there are no members at this club. Not sure if he is on the list (I didn't check) but he is one of the best.Quote:

$75 seems like a bit of a gouge for access to the handicap system & other stuff.
In your opinion is it worth the cost?
That's what I get for going from memory.Quote:

One of the things you get, at least for the last two years anyway, is a 10% of coupon for Golftown (no clubs or balls) so if you're buying some new clothes or shoes, it's a good deal.
Of those that I have played with my top group would include:Quote:

The first three are former professionals, now reinstated amateurs, and of the last three, I would pick Mike Walker as having the best swing of the whole group. (63 at Outaouais ain't bad)
BC mist your picks were pretty good with the results of the Citizen!!!
Does anyone know where Chris Bernard came from because I have never heard of him before this year. Where did he play jr. golf. I fallow him on Tuesday at Kanata for 3 holes, he can really play.
chris is originally from pei. i believed he was in toronto prior to coming to ottawa
I just wanted to agree with BC mist who put Phil Patterson on his list. I know Phil and he is an excellent player.
I saw Jeremiah Shields play in the Montreal Open..he is definitely one of the top 5 amateurs in Ottawa if not in Canada.
Dan Kilbank should be included in this list ... after all, he eagled the par 4 4th hole on the Manderley South course just yesterday. That takes talent. Way to go, Dan.
Actually Mike Walker shot a 62 (Course Record :thumbsup ) at Outaouais. 31/31 from the back tees. Not an insignificant accomplishment with 2 bogies on the card! If you go into the club house, the score card is mounted on the wall for all to see.Quote:

Good work BC. I'm just curious, but how many times did you take out your driver in your round?
After a few years, this list should be updated. I'd have to keep Mr. McGee on the list, but Marc-Etienne Bussieres should be added. As for the rest of the top five, there is just too many solid players in this area to make a list. But these two guys, year after year, are at the top of the tournaments in the area.
