My prediction is he'll make the cut, barely. I think it's still too soon after Earl's death for him to go out and win such a big tournament. I think he'll be okay for the PGA in August.

I think that he'll be right there...a Father's Day finish will provide all of the motivation that Tiger needs. We'll see if he can keep his emotions in check well enough to win it.
I think he will be in the mix as well.. I don't think he will win but I think a top 10..
Put me down for a TW win.
LOL, click on 'Win it for Earl' then Ed.

All I gotta say is that this is going to be an awesome Sunday in the year 2006 for this character. I can't wait!
Tiger is one of the most focused athletes of our time. I'm sure he'll be just fine. If anything, I don't think the emotion of his father's memory will hinder him. If anything I think it will be just plain old rust from not playing for almost three months.
Either way I'm exceedingly excited to watch this. I even booked a 6:15 tee off time Sunday so I can sit down after a roudn with some beer and watch one of my favourite annual events. Ahhhhhhhhhh If only all weekends were major weekends!
he's so mentally tough on the course, i have a feeling it won't play a factor.
I think his only downfall may be trying too hard and destructing himself. If that doesn't happen I say winner or top 3
I say top 5 100%.
I'm going to say...missed cut. If I end up being right, I'll look like a genius.
gotta add it to the poll jon, a simple post can be deleted or changed! LOL!!! the poll vote is everlasting!
Done and Done. and Duval will make the cut.
Your crazy jonf; however I also hope D Duval comes around I enjoy watching him play.
This is gonna be awesome I love Major weekends!
Speaking of Duval, not sure if you guys caught my blog, but I mentioned that Golf Digest this month has an awesome interview with DD. Made me root for him even more!
1. Tiger Woods
2. Phil Mickelson
3. David Toms
4. Davis Love II
5. Retief Goosen
My top 5 @ U.S. Open.
Nice Latin Quote Donny!!!:-) :P ;)Quote:

2. Phil Mickelson When you have won two majors in a row, you ooze confidence. Phil has all the tools, he always has. Will he use two drivers, we'll see.
3. Vijay Singh Peeking at just the right time, Vijay is going to be in the thick of things come Sunday.
4. Trevor Immelman The way this kid has been playing, I expect him to be the top South African in the field.
5. Ian Poulter Call him my dark horse for the weekend. Poulter and his flash will get plenty of TV coverage on Sunday afternoon as he threatens the leaders.
6. Adam Scott Too talented not to compete. Showed some serious metal burying that eagle this past Sunday.
7. Chad Campbell Yes he's missed two of his last four cuts, but he tends to show up for the big tournaments. I think a top 10 is almost guaranteed for the talented Texan.
8. Retief Goosen I'd argue that Retief is the most consistent major performer on tour. Just needs to finish more often.
9. Luke Donald He's missed only one cut this year, he's made 9. In 8 of those tournaments he's finished in the top 25. Consistent play is Donald's strength.
10. Tiger Woods He'll be the story of the tournament, there's no doubt about that. If he makes the cut, we'll see every shot on the weekend even if he's in 50th place. But the burden on his heart and the lack of preparation will be too much for even Tiger.
I think someone has a potential career as a Golf Analyst ahead of himselfQuote:

law of averages my friend. It has to happen eventually. If ever there was a week for it, this is it. Say all you want about the inspiration factor, the man hasn't touched a club in weeks. He is going to be thinking too much about his father, and not enough about his golf swing. Sure, its a feel good story if he wins, but I don't see him having the focus necessary to make anything happen. Winged Foot will eat you alive if you aren't on the top of your game, and I can't see him being there.

Secondly if you've won tha tmany majors at his age your pretty good at blocking unneeded mental stimulus aka anxiety out in the first place.
Only time will tell though right?:thumbsup
well, if its an ingrained habit, having not swung a club in a month, we can expect to see some swing flaws creeping in.
I voted for top ten,but it wouldnt suprise me if he wins.
Some people think Tiger just showed up this week and hit some balls and that's it for his preparation for the U.S.Open?
You can bet your last dollar he has been working on his game for some time now. He will not be rusty as far as his swing goes.
It is not like I am a Tiger Fan, far from it. But this is a Major we are talking about. This is the first Major after his Father's death and you can just bet he wants to win one for Earl on Father's Day.
He and everyone else needs to drive it straight. I saw the ruler going down into that third cut of rough. If that junk was on any public course there would be so many balls lost it would not be funny. You can bet the USGA will have lots of spotters out there, plus they have already advised the players to make sure they mark their balls, maybe more so than they usually do so they can identify them in the hoolies!
GAME ON BOYS :-)
I say tiger in the top 10, i like furyk to win and lefty comes #2
Do you actually think he is coming in to this tourney without having touched his clubs in months? This is #1 in the world we are talking about. There is no way he isn’t ready for this. The only rust he might have is tournament rust, which I think, is not in TW vocabulary. He was born ready.Quote:

Born ready, eh? I'm sure the guy is prepared, and has been practising, but I am sure he is not as well prepared as he is on most other occasions. I'm sure he will have rust, and this course will punish rust severely. There are no slight misses when a course is setup this tough. You have to be dead on. Sure, Tiger can power it out of any rough, but he's not going to be powering it out and holding these greens. Put it in the rough and its as good as a bogey. I just have a feeling that this will not be his week.
