Golf to ban anchored putters

Golf's governing bodies will ban the anchoring of putters from January 2016, the Royal and Ancient (R&A) and the United States Golf Association (USGA) said in a joint statement on Tuesday.

Next rule to fix golf is to have a universal golf ball for tournaments: E.g: baseball, basketball, football, hockey, tennis, etc..

Golf will survive. If it has no advantage, people will revert to the traditional putter just fine. If it does have an advantage, they made the right call anyway.

I agree with you Pablo. I would like the USGA adapt a ruling on picking one type of ball for all players and make it fly less so it does not cost millions of dollars to lenghten golf courses.

I like this. How about "specs" like they do in auto racing, different manufacturers but specs same across the board. Call it a "Tour" ball, but perhaps still make ones for us poor amatures with diff. swing speeds. If you can get the manufacturers on board, and they don't lose any money, then it may fly.
