With another 30 cm today and 10-15 forecasted for Saturday thought it would be a good time to start a poll of when the Ottawa Golf courses will open for the 2008 season........There is a ton of snow out there to melt folks.............:rolleyes

April 5th
My guess would be.............the higher quality public and definetely Private courses will be opening on average 2 weeks later. So that would put many the last week of April (after April 27th).
I sure hope I am wrong on this one................:rolleyes
summer 2009
I am thinking somewhere around april 10....more wishful thinking then anything at this point.
april 15
May 10th. The first NCGT event will be played on the opening day at Dragonfly..
I don't see any way we will be golfing by mid april. the forecast for the next 2 weeks has the temp at or below zero. that means little to no melting between now and then.
Remember chopping large chunks of snow/ice off the lawn back in the 1970s after those record snowfall years as late as 1st and 2nd week of May...........................:thumbsdow
Even though we might get mild temps by end of March early April, its going to take weeks for the snow to melt and courses to dry out for play........
My prediction who is going to benefit $$$$ "big time" from this will be the driving ranges (ie. Kevin Haime & 19th Tee). Weather will be warm so people will be itching to hit balls, but the courses will still not be open..................
After spending at least three hours shovelling today (once starting at 4.45 AM, and again when I got home from work at 6.30 PM), I'm saying May 10. Be-ruuutal.
Not before the last week of april for sure. When we had normal winters we were playing around mid april. This sucks big time.
the good news for me is I am going to Myrtle May 1. Whether or not I golf here before that is up in the air
A look back at the 2007 Opening dates............Wonder who will be the first to open this year.............???

I'm thinking mid-May
bring on Global warming
After today I've given up on spring golf - we might as well go for the record now! I think we need another 90 cm, with 15-20 more expected by the end of the week. Bring it on - might as well make it the winter we can tell our grandchildren about!
Hmmm, my baby is due on April 10th. So chances are it will be the same week. Just so I can't go for a round that week LOL
I am hoping for first weekend in May!! Sure hope i am wrong and that it is before that!!!!!

2008- JULY 8th:lmfao
My money's on April 23rd.
As mentioend earlier, the problem is going to be the drying out of courses. Flooding may also be an issue. With all this snow, warm weather isn't enough, we also need time. I say late April unfortunately and only at courses that drain well. A lot of courses are going to have short seasons this year I think. :thumbsdow
I will have to say Saturday April 26, 2008 and it will be Champlain or Veiux Meulins
It could be a while, given the whopper that is coming along for this weekend and our current snowpack. The latest models show and additional 30-60cm on Saturday/Sunday. :fight:
I'd say late April at the earliest.
There is no snow in Syracuse other then snow banks here and there. I think NY courses will see lots of Canadian golfers in April.
Where are people getting the 30-60cm number? The Weather Network shows 15 cm on Saturday?
