Dear All, after last update my system freezes every recalibration and each time I try to play after one calibration. I'm running win7 64bit pro on iMac (using bootcamp). Anyone else with same issue?
kind regards
I'm running Win 7 pro 64 bit as well on a pc. Mine crashed the very first time I ran the calibration. It has worked without any problems since then. I will try calibrating and see what happens.
When you calibrate the very 1st time it works fine but each time you try to recalibrate (e.g. I 'm trying different tape solutions) it creates problems.
I have calibrated multiple times. However, I haven't recalibrated since yesterday's minor update.
Just tried recall rating and got the same result as you Gafmagic....Crash! Looks like they introduced a bug with yesterday's update.
madspeed...With the final release of Optishot 2, they introduced a 'Calibration' feature to try and help accuracy.
I just went into the program and found that. Are you calibrating each club?
I had only calibrated the Driver and 3 Wood.
thanks for all your help! Look forward to meeting you on the "course" soon
Hi Everyone,
Optishot user here. Have been running it on a XP Pro machine with no problem with HD card.
Optishot claims that at minimum you need Vista, 7 or 8 operating system.
Will Optishot 2 "unofficially" run on XP?
Optishot works fine for me and I have no plans for online play. My clubs work great with Optishot.
Is it worth moving to Optishot 2? Are there other benefits such as enhanced graphics, etc.?
Thanks!
Tom C
While not officially supported, Optishot 2 should work fine with XP.
The big benefits are online play and the "calibration" feature.
I've downloaded optishot 2 to a HP laptop with MS 7 but optishot will not start after clicking icon.
All laptop specs are to optishot Requirements. Any ideas?
Thanks
Tom C
I initially received an Application error: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002)"...
when trying to run Optishot2 on XP.
Found out that it was missing "Microsoft.VC90.CRT".
I downloaded and installed both Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package.
I can now happily run Optishot2 :).
It is probably not necessary to install both of them, but I installed both before checking.
A new update was released today, Sunday, December 14. It includes several bug fixes. The new Mac version is now available also.
Is the update automatic once i open up the software?
The next time you run Optishot, it should notify you and download the update automatically. If not, there is a direct download link available.
Gafmagic.....Today's update fixes the calibration crash problem.
I upgraded Optishot to Optishot 2 today without any problems. I play the game in my garage where there is no wi-fi. If I start the game in the garage it tells me that I am not authorized to play Optishot 2. The original Optishot starts fine but does not validate my purchased Premium courses. Everything works fine when I bring my laptop into the house with wi-fi access.
Is Optishot 2 now requiring real-time validation every time I start the program?
This appears to be so.
Anyone experiencing the same issue?
Thanks,
Tom C
tcaron....It certainly sounds like they are validating on the fly now. I will disconnect mine and try it later today.
So this means that if Dancin dog were to go bankrupt one day, our Opti would stop working. That kinda sucks. This is like when the gaming industry began using online DRM systems and the games stopped working when it was no longer cost efficiency to have the servers running anymore. :grumpy:
I heard from Kurt at Dancin Dogg today that they have taken the online validation out with the most recent patch. Have not tested it yet.

Good to know....I forgot to give it a try this evening.

Recently finished my garage setup and thought I would share a couple of pics. Cheers
Do you get good reliable and accurate results with that light setup?
People do it...and with cheap cfl bulbs the IR emitted is low enough that it usually works. But it isn't the best setup due to shadows and reflections (off your shoes, pants, club, hitting mat, uneven lighting on sensors etc) so it would be better to get away from the close point source of light. A long fluorescent tube would be better and moving it further away and going to a broad indirect lighting better still.
If you put your hand in the hitting area and see any shadows at all then the lighting can be improved. And remember also that something may be black and absorbing for visible light but highly reflective for IR so be aware of possible IR sources and reflections.
Anyway if it ain't broke don't fix it...otherwise it might be worth experimenting.
Thanks for the tips, still experimenting with the lighting. Unfortunately the short throw projector is close to the screen and does not show very well with a lot of ambient light. Let is snow, let it snow, ok that's enough, I'll still be golfing all winter long Cheers
Optishot 2 issue -
Recently installed Optishot 2 upgrade. It worked well on my HP laptop but yesterday is returning a r6030 runtime err! CRT not initialized
when I try to start Optishot 2.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tom C
One question, what's a gobo? Went out today and purchased a 4' fluorescent light fixture. I'm going to mount it on the ceiling directly over the sensors, remove my point of use lights and turn of all other lighting, I'll let you know how it works. Thanks for your advise FaultyClubs.
Tcaron: sorry bro, I have not had that issue!
