Baltimore has absolutely no need for him unless they change him toa RB as they have Joe, yeah that's right Joe Flacco! He was a stud last year and if he doesn't suffer from sophomore jinx and his GM can get him someone to throw to besides Clayton he will be a stud again.
Him & Matt Ryan definitely look like the future at the QB position, as does Cutler if he can mature and screw his head on straight.
Hopefully not losers forever. Been a fan since winning $50 in a bet in 1983.
This year if their quarterback has time to throw his 80 yd bombs to the fastest new receiver in the league once or twice a game; they may improve to a .500 team.
Predictions
AFC EAST
1. New England Patriots - all rests on Brady's knee
2. New York Jets - the defense will be scary
3. Buffalo Bills - good but not good enough
4. Miami Dolphins - no sneaking up on anyone this year
AFC NORTH
1. Pittsburgh Steelers - defending champs mostly intact
2. Baltimore Ravens - defense carries the offense
3. Cincinnati Bengals - one year away from a playoff berth, seriously
4. Cleveland Browns - gotta get that QB situation sorted
AFC SOUTH
1. Tennesse Titans - solid all around team, top to bottom
2. Indianapolis - a few growing pains but the offense carries them again
3. Houston - An above average team but in an above average division
4. Jacksonville - Maurice Jones-Drew's breakout year, but that's it
AFC WEST
1. San Diego Chargers - the AFC Super Bowl team
2. Kansas City Chiefs - won't break .500 in this horrible division
3. Oakland Raiders - Garcia takes over early
4. Denver Broncos - bring back Shanahan!!!!!!!!!!!
NFC EAST
1. Dallas Cowboys - 9 wins might win this strong division
2. Philadelphia - another playoff appearance for Donovan
3. New York Giants - not strong enough to take on the top 2
4. Washington Redskins - 8 wins possible, Portis getting long in the tooth
NFC NORTH
1. Green Bay Packers - take that Brett
2. Minnesota Vikings - won't have the guts to bench Favre if he struggles
3. Chicago Bears - Cutler's good, but not enough talent overall
4. Detroit Lions - the Lions will win a game this year, maybe three!
NFC SOUTH
1. New Orleans Saints - added to their defense
2. Atlanta Falcons - first back to back winning seasons in team history
3. Carolina Panthers - Delhomme's final year starting in Carolina
4. Tampa Bay Bucs - possibly the worst team in football
NFC WEST
1. Arizona Cardinals - improved, Kurt must stay healthy
2. Seattle Seahawks - comeback player of the year Matt Hasselbeck
3. San Francisco 49ers - Crabtree's holdout kills the team
4. St Louis Rams - improved, but still not close to playoffs
any change in your prediction for the AFC North now with big ben out and flacco looking very good
I'll post a final update just before the season starts, based on injuries. San Diego remains my super bowl pick for the moment.
San Diego plays in a soft division and should get 6 wins right there. They will get in, and choke or fall apart against a better D like they have for the past few years. Too many big teams in the AFC like Balt, PITTS, NE and Tennessee for them to go through as a finesse team, a la Indy, who I wouldn't count out completely either.
I don't know, SD took the Pats to the wire and almost beat them two years ago in the AFC final. And that was with Tomlinson sitting on the bench and Rivers having a torn knee ligament. The only thing holding them back is Norv Turner.
Some fantasy/injury news. Tom Brady's throwing shoulder got dinged up last night by Albert Haynesworth. And Greg Jennings got sandwiched and left his game with a concussion. Man, Green Bay looks awesome!!! Aaron Rogers is a top 5 fantasy QB this year.
I think the Chargers will be a lot better this year. Shawne Merriman will be playing all year and he is an impact player!
I am quite happy that the Bills know what they are doing. They had to call a press conference to say that they didn't need Michael Vick because they were happy with their offense.
While I was watching the Bills vs Steelers (last Thursday) I was wondering what the GM was thinking when he said that. That offense has to be one of the worst in the league. Total passing yards in the first half... 22 yards.
In the last 2 games Trent Edwards is 13 for 24 for 76 yards... and this is the starting QB. It is going to be a long season for the Bills.
I agree, but I disagree. The Bills offense right now is ugly, but its not the QB. Their O-line is young and inexperienced, which makes it very difficult to pass the ball effectively. Also, they are without their starting RB. I think Trent Edwards can be a really solid QB for them, and with healthy backs and receivers, they have some talent. If they can reinforce their O-line then they will have a respectable offense. They will never be a light-em-up offense, but with their D, they just need an offense that can stay on the field, eat up clock, gain field position, and put a few points on the board.
The no-huddle offense is not easy to learn and execute. So the Bills will need time. However, bye bye offensive coordinator just before the season starts is disastrous. Bills are a 6-10 team.
The Raiders, M Y L O R D!!! Getting rid of Garcia means that they'll rely on JaMarcus all season long. Don't agree with that move at all. Gradkowsky is not going to win any games there as back-up.
Still time to recant on my bears, donny. solid preseason, nice balance of rushing and passing...
Oh man I want to be tailgating right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm about to burst I'm so excited. On my TV today will be my Falcons and Matty Ice taking on the Dolphins.
Go Cowboys! Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton had big days, we don't need no TO!!!
(Avoids saying that T-Bay may be horrible this year)
If Witten gets hurt the Boys are done.
Can't wait to see Chicago at Green Bay tonight.
The NFL is back baby!!!
Soooo I can't help but notice Sak hasn't posted. Hoolio, can you check to make sure he's not hanging in a closet? Brian out for the season, Cutler played like crap.
Can't believe both of those games last night were so close. I need San Diego to cover to win $400 from proline. = (
What a bunch of losers in Buffalo. If that kick off return guy, who caught the ball yard 1 tard deeop into the endzone lets it go, they don't fumble and they may not lose.
Perennial losers. 4 superbowls in a row without a win, way to go Buffalo! :thumbsup
got a scare last night in my survival pool with the chargers, i figure i would watch the 1st quarter see the chargers up by 21 then hit the hay, almost 4 hours later im still gritting my teeth and then rivers finally decides to play...with 18 seconds to spare
I don't understand it. Is it maybe the big "C" on the helmets that cause Chicago QB's to throw picks? I thought that the bears D was solid, I thought they had that game won going into the 4th DESPITE Cutler's inaccuracy. sigh. Looking like another one of those years...
The Buffalo Bills are officially the most dissappointing sports franchise to cheer for, ever. They give you so much hope, and then always snatch it away at the last second. Wide right, 4 superbowl losses, music city debacle, 3 years watching rob johnson the sack machine while flutie sat on the sidelines, losing the final game of the season to pittsburgh's 3rd stringers in a game that would have clinched a playoff berth, collapsing in the 4th against Dallas on MNF, and now this. I honestly think that mathematically speaking, they are the most dissappointing franchise to cheer for. The broken heart ratio is off the charts.
For you point spread folks, look for Buffalo and Oakland's spreads to be too low this week. The average joe will be fooled into thinking they are better then they are and bet accordingly. Bet against them both.
Oakland is playing KC this weekend who may potentially not have cassell, so the only reason to bet against Oakland would be because they are on the road or because you think they can't stop LJ.
In terms of Buffalo, Tampa Bay comes to them, so depending on what the spread is they may not be a bad bet, especially if its windy or cold.
Both games will depend on the spread but I wouldn't be so hasty in your judgements there.
Tampa Bay is +5½ ve the Bills
Oakland +3 at Kansas City
For the suicide pool... I think I like Washington at home. Green Bay is also solid but I think Cincy is more dangerous than St Louis.
You could also go with the sure thing: Vikings in Detroit... lol.
My choice: Redskins!
