This is the place to ask questions on the mechanics of the swing etc.
How an amazing athlete smashes a golf ball.
GolfTEC is opening on Lancaster Rd. I like their philosophy of developing a long-term program. Does anyone have experience with them?
I had back surgery a few years ago and have always had to cut my season short due to flare ups with my back. I have done lots of research and the single plane golf swing looks to be the best option for me.
I am looking for recommendations for an instructor around Ottawa that specializes...
Feeling the Winter Blues - so why not get help on what I should work on during the offseason?
I'm just curious to know whose golf swing I should replicate since I can't tell who I swing like.
Other than that any tips or advice will help. The things I always work on with this club is tempo,...
For those who struggle to make a full turn or have too much head movement towards their trail foot. A quick instructional on turning for power.
Its been an awful year as far as hitting the bal straight but i must thank someone from our course who saved my swing a couple of weeks ago. Was playing by myself when this well known excellent player joined me for 9 holes. He was able to correct a flaw in my swing and had me hitting several shots...
My wife(mid-50s age) is open to trying golf.
As a 17 hcp, I can't really help her on the driving range. She needs some simple technique from a real instructor.
We are new in town. so wondering who people might suggest
I was a 15 handicap who lost his drive to a point I cant even use my driver off the tee. I am hiting everything on heel and slicing them short of 200 yards.
Anyone ever have this happen? what did you do?
Also considering getting lessons? Looking for someone who will work with my situation...
I had my first lesson with Marc Levac (Pingman) last night at La Mer Bleue Driving Range in the East end. I wasn't sure if his teaching style would be a good fit for me but I thought I'd take a chance.
In the last month I had been seeing my drives go right - left - right - left. I couldn't...
Does anyone know of a good golf professional in the East or South end of town. I have taken a few lessons with Ron Langevin in the past but I don't think he is teaching any longer.
Wondering if anyone has implemented Slicefixer's 9 to 3 drill into their golf swing.
The thread: http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/146842-93-drill-and-muchmuchmore/
Been doing a ton of reading for the past couple days, from the huge forum thread, to his Encyclopedia Texarkana, and watching...
I always find these little tips or have people give me little tips to help out when my game is going sideways and typically these tips work for a very short period and then another problem creeps in.
I was at a local golf school yesterday and the pro showed me this video...
New to the forum, but a golf regular for the past 4 -5 yrs.
I'm looking to get a new set of irons for next year and would like to find out what my swing speed is so i can get the right shaft.
I know golf town does but I was wondering if you can get it done privately somewhere?
Anyone ever had instructions with Steve Oostrom?
Your experience with him?
Further to my Store Simulator thread, I believe my high back spin is causing distance loss.
Here are my stats...
Experience - Occasional Golfer (10-15 games a year)
Swing Speed 90-100 mph
I was looking into buying a new Driver.
I first went to Golftown and tried several Drivers on their simulators.
I'm 57 and an occasional Golfer (10-15 games a year)
It gave me the following information on my swing patterns...
Swing Speed 73-86 mph
Backspin 2000 -...
I'm wondering if there are reviews anywhere about the local teachers. Maybe like the "rate your MD" site?
At 66 I just want to hit the ball straight & figure the short game.
I don't want to listen to someone who has the gift of the gab & waxes poetic about Hogans swing or any theory. I don't...
Closer to 70 than 60 so figured it was time to look at senior shafts. Off to Golftown where I tried half dozen#3hybrids and to my surprise I hit the senior shafts about 5 miles slower than the stiff shafts. I thought that the lighter shafts were supposed to increase speed.
Hey Guys. I took up golf more seriously when I worked at a golf course when I was 16. Unlike many people I got into the game when my dad has only ever played a few times. We went on a family trip a few months back and I brought the clubs...dad mentioned for the first time that he would maybe...
Hello never posted a thread here but was wondering if anyone can help out. I have lost a lot of distance this year with very high amounts of total spin (4500-5000) after watching many instructional videos I have managed to lower it to about 3600. I'm only going by the screen at golftown but I can...
ok guys...need help. Been golfing for 40 plus yrs. 13.5 index. For some friggin' reason, I have lost all sense of putting. Costing me too many strokes per game to count. Time to get some professional help. Recommendations pls with specialty in putting if at all possible.
Posted this over on golfwrx this morning but figured some of you guys here might have some insight on this also:
Over the last while I've been struggling with getting what I would call a "heavy hit". I assume this is a steep angle of attack since I rarely hit turf before ball, but on a driving...
Does anyone have a putting instruction video that they would highly recommend? I want to get something for my wife for Christmas. She had a good year (golf-wise) and I want to keep the momentum going. :)
I'm always questioning my golf grip. I tend to get lazy and change the positioning and all of a sudden start hitting the ball left, until I weaken it. I never feel that I'm repeating it from shot to shot.
I was thinking about installing a Leadbetter grip on one of my clubs this winter during...
Has anyone taken any instructions with Marc Lacombe at GT Trainyards?
I went to look for a new driver and based on my swing speed (80-90 mph), internet search states that I should buy a 12 degree or higher Driver.
But, when I tested several Drivers at GT, it showed that I have a very high natural launch angle (20 degrees+), high spin rate (3500 +) and swing speed...
I always work on proper shoulder turn to start my backswing. What thought do you use? Does the shoulder to chin work? I am a firm believer in big muscles in backswing but can't pull off and net a reliable swing thought to ensure my shoulders are on right plane. Thanks
Recently heard (pro on TV) that you swing your Hybrid the same as you would an Iron. Never heard that before, but it does seem to make sense, to a point. I have always felt that since the Hybrid has a head similar to a Fairway Wood (larger, flat sole) that you should try to "sweep" the ball...
Never had any lessons or my swing analyzed before. Looking for feedback. Thanks.
Poll question... Why are there no new instruction threads in 2014?
Curious to find out if there are any followers (surgites) in the Ottawa area who have tried or adopted successfully the PPGS (Peak Performance Golf Swing) taught by Don Trahan, father of golf pro and PGA two time winner D.J. Trahan. Reference: www.swingsurgeon.com
My wife has just taken up the sport after going out 4 times, she is left handed and is looking at getting lessons, but not sure where to go.
Looking for suggestions.
Second part to this is I am looking to get 2-3 lessons myself to try and lower my handicap. Shoot mid 80's. We live in South...
Having this argument with some friends. I have always believed that in a strong grip the V's of both hands point to the right shoulder(for a right handed golfer)
However take a look at the pics below.I think the second set of pics is more correct. Comments?...
Has anyone been to both? I'm thinking of getting a 3 pack from either one of the Pros at Kevin Haimes (Not Kevin himself) or one of the guys at 19th Tee. They're both about the same price so I was wondering who's been to both and who you thought was better.
My last few rounds I must of hit 8 iron shots fat!!! I just want to explode when I do it. The link below is a short video of me hitting balls at the range. Does anyone see anything in my swing that would open me up to hitting it fat. :confused
I have never seen the DVDs on S&T but I think I have developed my own version of it. Basicly keeping a little more weight on my front foot, dropping my front shoulder a little bit during the take away and a nice balanced follow through. On short irons, I love it. You come down on the ball...
Would you take lessons from an uncertified golf instructor?
And no I'm not going into teaching. :P
Been using some Dr Sholl's spray lately at Gregg and Joes Winter Golf school, and was doing some searches and came across this pretty informative article about how to read the markings. Thought I'd share. It sure seems to be a pretty neat way to help understand whats going on at the range.
So I have had the same putter for almost 8 years now. It's a TM Rossa CGB Daytona 1 Blade.
Thing is, the wear on the face of it is clearly more towards the toe than in the center. This tells me that for years I have played my putts off center and have avoided the sweet spot of the putter.
Made this post on GolfWrx but figured I'd up it here also to see what people thought.
For those of you who hit a push draw:
Do you in a sense 'give up control' of your start direction? By that I mean, align yourselves square to your target and swing on that line without worry about the...
been using a swingtip and the info i get from it states that i have an inside out swing with an open club face. I am left handed and my ball flight is somewhat strait or a bit to the right would not closing the face to square make the ball go way right not sure i can figure this out inside out with...
I have a wierd backswing, always have never fixed it. But, I correct all the issues when I come down at the ball and get a pure contact every time.
Has anyone done this before or know what this program is like. They want $600 for this and just want to know if it is worth the $600
first time poster here but an avid reader
i m looking for some feed back from anybody who took some lessons
with warren grant from total golf
thinking of signing up with him
any feedback is appreciated
Hey, so I just wanted to ask people what they do for productive golf practicing. I believe in its importance and making sure you make every practice efficient and put to good use on improving. There is no since wasting your time and money going to the range just to hit golf balls. It needs to be...
Hi Everyone. :)
I see and hear about all these people spending so much money on golf lessons, most of these golf pro's try to change your swing too much and the next thing you...
been playing golf for four years. simple as it my seem i've always thought that golf was simply about getting a ball into a hole. why do people worry about the swing when its obviously not what the game's about?
I had just recently posted on distance but i can score under 90 though i've only...
This guy is full of juicy nuggets :-)
the key to better golf is stated on cameron strachan's website golfgooroo.com.
Just found this. i think it will help alot of those who struggle.
Please dopnt take his work for granted. hes worked very hard on his ideas and will gladly help those in need.
He makes golf simple. i share...
I'm really having a hard time hitting my 3 wood off the fairway, it always goes a mile high. I can barely hit it over 200 yards. I have a feeling I'm hitting down on it too much (usually take some turf), but when I think of hitting down with a wood I think de-lofting the club so why is it going so...
