Donny's Stock Talk
Instead of posting in a new thread each time, thus incurring the wrath of the mods, I figured I'd start an all in one!
First, you should know that 1/3 of my portfolio is in mutual funds, 1/3 in GICs and the other 1/3 is what my stock portfolio. (I don't believe in RRSPs) It's a good idea to diversify! There's my public service announcement for the day.
The three previous tips have been good as gold! Hope those that got in are enjoying the gains!
Here are some of the companies I've recently invested in:
This stock is IDEAL for those of you who want to invest in the resource sector but don't want to just invest in one or two companies. Longview Capital Partners Incorporated (LV) is a capital investing company that invests in various resource companies. It's a great buy, a similar company went from $3 to $18!!!!
Next up is Ditem Explorations Inc (DIT)! This one has been flying under the radar but not any longer. Sprott Asset Management has invested in it and if you need another reason, just read this article: http://www.resourceinvestor.com/pebble.asp?relid=27177
Another that Sprott likes is Roca Mines Inc. (ROK), a Molybdenum miner in BC. Moly is a metal used in making steel and there is a huge demand for it. Once the mine starts production in 2007, this one should head up towards $5.00. It recently suffered a drop because the harsh BC weather in November delayed the mine work. On an even brighter side, it also has a Tungsten deposit!!!!
Lastly, and this is the gamble of the bunch, is Aldershot Resources (ALZ). It’s dirt cheap and worth taking a gamble on. My contact tells me that this company will have a lot to do with the Aussie-China uranium exchange. If you don’t like risk, avoid this one. But the potential is amazing.

DH, my take is it'll hit $2/share by spring. One year, I'll have to wait and see.

RRSP's
Donny,
Although I can't say anything bad about your stock tips (unbelievable results thus far!) you should really believe in RRSPs! Beyond being one of the most tax-favoured ways to invest, it's a great way to plan long-term. Hold some tax-disfavoured investments in there (GIC's for instance) at least. Your capital gain earners and even dividend earners can stay outside, but at least throw those GIC's in there and realize the deduction and tax-free accumulation. Just a bit of advice, so take it for what it's worth! Considering I'm a student, that's probably not a lot!
Cheers

I'm over 10 years into a government pension. RRSPs to me is just a tax deferral, not a tax savings. If you're in the private sector, makes sense to put money away that you can't touch, but not for me.

Just a word on ALZ. This would be the equivalent of going for a green in two, but you have to carry 240 yards of water to get there. Highly speculative. Cheap enough to take a flyer on.

Looks like PN is moving again. Better late then never, I thought with Dec 4th's news release it would have soared.
I added to my shares of Longview Capital, at today's price it's a great buy. If it goes down a bit more, say 1.50, I'll buy even more.
I also picked up shares in a company called Energem (ENM). They had a bad deal recently which dropped the price significantly. It's almost a billion dollar a year company, and after doing a lot of research I concluded that there is NO WAY that it'll stay this low for long. If it doesn't get back to at least a buck by March, I'll eat my shirt.
Meanwhile, GEM and FNI are getting a christmas card from me!Donny Vantage NFL Guru, since 1974

Roca Mines
Spend a half hour on the phone with investor relations at Roca Mines today. The weather in BC is still crazy, but the information in the last release regarding timeframes was very conservative. The mine should be fully up and running in January, February at the latest. Once production starts, the price of the stock should start climbing. As for the tungsten, they have no plans to mine it at this time, but it's something that could be tapped in the future.
