Simply because RM had already put up their membership prices for next year.
http://www.ottawagolf.com/club/index.html
For example:
A full membership with RM before the alliance was $199. So if someone already purchased it, to upgrade all he/she has to do has to do is to pay the difference between $199 and $229.20
Notice with Golf select there is no Platinum membership, nor last minute and 30 day membership.
Also notice that they are not offering a free junior membership nor a guest option as of yet.
RM had such an offering:
Memberships are Free to Kids 18 Years of age and under!
Must be sponsored by a full member. Just contact us and we'll set your child up!and* Bring a Guest!
Your guests can get 20% off geen fees at select courses.
Subject to availability of club spots

Which courses? How many times is fewer times? Not sure this will win a popularity contest.
Golf Select Draw System
In an effort to ensure that all members have an equal opportunity to play courses that are in greater demand we have added a Draw System. All courses will still be available via the instant or first-come, first served method we have always used.
In the Draw System we have allocated a few spots from certain courses so that members might book in advance of when the course first comes available for booking. A computer algorithm has been created that would award those spots to players who have yet to play or have played fewer times at a particular course. Please note that this method is not available for all courses and that all courses are still available on a first come, first serve basis. The Draw System is fully outlined in your membership package.
As with all important business decisions, we will work closely with our members to ensure a smooth transition process.Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

Tx ...I am a new member as of Sept. However, for some reason, they continue to keep me in the dark even though I have emailed, called and personally stopped by to ensure they had all my contact info. Not a great start...

I know it's still winter out there, but it would be nice to see the RM/GS reservation page updated to show all these new course choices.

Does anyone respond to their support emails? I'm really started to regret joining this company after reading this thread and getting no feedback whatsoever on cards etc.

The amalgamation of the 3 companies that comprise Golf Select is happening in stages. For this year you will be dealing with the company you signed up with, and using their card. ie if you joined through RM you will get an RM card this year. The courses will be accepting all 3 cards since you book through the various sub-clubs
They are still working on the details so this is temporary. Sorry for any confusion.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

just curious, Stonebridge is listed on the courses and rates page but not on the book tee times page. I believe they opened on Friday. What's up?
http://www.ottawagolf.com/book-tee-time.htmlI got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

You can only book the courses listed below through Ottawa Golf. All other courses you have to use whatever system they have in place. Pineview is on not on here for example and neither is Kingsway.

Nothing is different. You book your spot with Golf select or one of the other then you book the course. Some courses have their own reservation system so you can't book them through reservation masters. Example you want to play Pineview tomorrow. You book your spot(s) with Golf select then you go and book a tee time at: http://www.pineview.com/en/golf/book-tee-time
