Bit of a problem here with chipping...
I've been doing a lot of chips under 50 yards and sending quite a few off the toe way to the right. HCAM is picking this up perfectly for just about every shot, but protee play is often sending the ball straight or way to the left. Why would it be doing that when the hcam is telling it -20 or more degrees to the right?

Kin go to settings and mak sure Ignore HCam Fallback is set at True. This will us Hcam all the time for ball path. The last row of sensors will detect the ball for speed and direction. If you hit a flop shot or chip then the club will cross th sensor before the ball usually to the left. I use th Hcam for all ball azimuth detection.

Wrong setting in the interface/ settings file. I answered this a few times in the Protee thread. Post the contents of your settings file.

Ignore HCam Fallback was set at false, I just changed it to true just now and tried a couple shots but it still seems to be happening...

Did you exit settings and save as well as restart the interface? Also try increasing the H_cam_fallback=8 from 8 to say 20. Exit/save settings and then restart the interface. Thoughts ZMax?

Ignore_hcam_fallback=True
With a capital "T"
Also, in the interface settings screen, make sure "Yes" is selected for Use balltrack for ballpath calculation.
It doesn't make sense but it has to be this way.

Thanks Z and bubba, that seemed to fix my chipping issue dramatically. Now if I can just figure out why I'm shanking 90% of my chip shots right off the toe lol.
Is there a way to detect topped shots? I've got a guy that tops the ball fairly often while driving where the ball should bounce maybe 30-50 yards, yet its carrying in game 130+ yards.

Make sure course friction in the game is set to 1.65. If the LA was detected correctly, check the ball speed. Currently, ball speed reads to high for thin shots and fat shots. We've been trying to get Protee to fix this for the last 8 months. Their programmers take holidays during the summer. They started working on a new release last week that will finally improve the ball speed along with other improvements. I was told it should be done in a few weeks.
Other cool stuff coming also but can't say yet....
BTW, you're probably shanking because you're getting used to hitting wedges indoors?

It all sounds fantastic, this will be a great winter
With those changed settings, I re-tweaked my v-cam and got my lighting aligned perfectly. What a difference! I still get the odd shot that doesn't read right, or is completely missed but the frequency went from about 1/10 shots to 1/30 shots.
Now that my main sensor light is perfectly centered, my head shadow rarely gets in the way for close chip shots where it did before.
I also fixed my chip shot thanks to the protee feedback
Oh and I got an upside down black door mat that I'm now using for my putting which is a million times better. It sticks to my turf like velcro too, got lucky there.
I'm becoming more and more pleased with my protee each passing day.
I'll post some pics once I get the garage cleaned up a bit, I've got tools and supplies laying all over the place.

Oh forgot to mention, I ended up changing some settings around for those hard foam callaway practice balls. Protee instructions recommended not to change club speed or ball speed for practice balls, but instead reduce ball drag. So I put everything back to 1.0, and reduced drag down to 0.82 and voila, distances are dead nuts on with club speeds and what I'm used to IRL.
Now, how accurate is the club head speed on the protee though? I consistently drive 310-330 IRL, and the only time I've ever measured my club head speed was with my swingbyte which got me at about 119. Well I was going all out on my drive today and I had quite a few get into the 140's, one even as high as 149. My regular swing averages around 130 according to protee, I just wanted to go nuts and see what my limit was.
Please tell me this is accurate lol

Glad you're liking it. Your experience is pretty much the same with most. Some frustrations at first but once you figured things out and get it tweaked, it's a great sim.
That club head speed is high. As long as it's consistent, it can be tweaked down. Just dial in your carry distances for now. In a few weeks, a new release should be out that will change a lot of things.
When you're ready, read my online play "how to" post.

Turns out they have been leaving slight marks I just never noticed until I turned the screen a solid blue color. FML!
Has anyone tried mr clean magic eraser on these screens, or anything that works for removing marks? The marks are barely noticeable during play, but it's only going to get worse. I don't want to keep hitting these balls if the marks are gonna be permanent.

That is why I recommended white balls. Hope those marks come out.

H-Cam giving weird angles
I have been setting up a protee system with both V-Cam and H-Cam. Things are working pretty well with it. I got the V-Cam working.
But the H-Cam is giving lots of trouble. I looked through this thread, followed the instructions at the front, but could not find anyone with a similar problem.
I am getting a very good ball track on the analysis window. And it gives a horizontal launch angle. But the ball track it detects is the wrong angle. It seems to be off by a constant amount. If I shoot a ball 30 degrees to the left I get something like +10 degrees launch. If I shoot a ball straight ahead, I get something like -24 degrees. If I shoot a ball slightly right I get something like -27 degrees. It seems like it is just confused on the coordinates of the line. I am attaching 3 screen shots of the H-Cam setup screen: one with a slight left shot, one a slightly right shot and one with a far left shot. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. Note that I have covered the putting sensor with green turf to try to make for ideal conditions to see if I can get it to work at all.
While setting up the V-Cam it just did not work at all when there were issues: it would give an error and fail. But with this issue the H-Cam seems to think it found the track but it does not match up graphically with the ball track. It seems very odd.
I have the capture frames for each screenshot if anyone is interested in more details, but will not post them all here to avoid tons of images.
-Thanks, Derek Ney

Derek, as you probably are aware, the red line should start from the red box and follow the ball streak. In your pics the red line is starting from the far left or does not show up at all. The material covering the putting sensor looks like it is made of very reflective material and may be confusing the Hcam? The capture screen looks very bright in that area. If you can take the material off the putting sensor and see what happens with your ball detection.

Derek: Use method PT3 for the H-cams.
I and several others got the same issue with PT4.

Good advice, Syhlif. I am using PT5 so I don't have the red lines in my hcam setup. However, the red lines are nice for lining up the hcam.

Pt 5
I too switched to PT5.......no problems with detection using my Ping Driver (black matte finish). My son came over with his white RBZ driver and he had a lot of issues with the overhead spots reflecting off the driver and giving incorrect readings.

Should be fine now, Kramer. I wondered about the new update for pt4. Should help others with the same problem.

v-cam maximum launch angle with high loft clubs
I posted a while ago about an h-cam issue. That is now solved. But I am now having a v-cam problem with high-loft clubs (sand wedge, lob wedge). I can easily hit those clubs to get a launch angle above 50 or so. It seems to always fail to see this on the v-cam. I noticed that there is a triangular region that is cut out of the video frames in the upper right corner. Often the ball track is in that region. Is there anyway to get the v-cam to work for high loft shots? I saw this setting:
V_cam_max_angle
It was set to 60 by default (I think). I changed it to 70 and then 80 to see if that would work, but no dice. Any ideas? Are others using the v-cam with high loft shots, and if so what settings are used? I have mine set to using the "PT4" method.
-Thanks

I have my v_cam_max_angle set to 60. I think that is plenty. Above that the ball almost disappears from the capture screen. I haven't used PT4 but I use PT5 and it works very well. I just make sure the top of the main sensor pad is just showing in the capture screens after I take a shot with any club. All wedges are picked up, up to 60 degree shots. I don't know what the triangular cut out area you are talking about is but maybe a screenshot of the capture screen posted here would help. Also, what lenses setting do you use (640 x 480?) and how far is the vcam from the main sensor pad? Make sure the Limit Launch angle setting is set to false.

Thanks for the info. The "triangular cut out" I am talking about can be seen in the attached image (this is not a sample with a high loft shot, just to show what I mean about the triangle). With a high loft shot the beginning of the ball track right off the tee is sometimes cut off by the triangle. You only see the track once it is 3 or so feet away from the tee. But this is with PT4, maybe PT5 does not have the triangle. I will have to try PT5.
I am using 320x240. Is it better to use 640x480? Vcam is about 5 feet in front and 10 feet to the right of sensor pad.
Is there a post anywhere describing these different PT methods? What are the differences between them?

Are you referring to the black triangle on the left of the image? If so, that is normal. Everything looks good to me. The background could be a little darker but I think the ball streak is good enough to be picked up. I use 640 x 480 but if your screen capture looks good to me. I have my vcam about 7 feet to the left of the sensor and about 1 foot in front. There is not any info on the PT methods. It seems to be a bit of a secret since no one really explains it anywhere. Personally, I have found the PT5 to work very well. To summarize, everything looks pretty good to me but it does appear that the ball streak starts above the ball? Does the capture screen with the red line show that the red line is on the actual ball streak?

isn't there a setting in the camera to reduce the brightness (exposure?); it does seem to be awfully bright, but if it picks up other shots I'm guessing its that PT 4 setting

The brightness might be due to the light from the halogen lights shining on the curtain. I had this before I wrapped foil tape on the bottom of the light fixture to narrow the light beam.

Thanks for all the help. I had some time this evening and changed some things.
I am now using PT5 for all the V-cam options (wedge,iron,etc.). It seemed to work OK, but I then got a problem after my 5th sand wedge trial. See the attached images. I tried adjusting all of the params and re-evaluating but it always got FAULT.
It seems like there is a very good ball streak there. I know the club face reflects, but I cannot really avoid that. Any ideas?

There should be a red line overlapping the ball streak on that far right screen. I don't see one so it would say fault. I have had that happen and I had to go out of the interface and back in again to get it reading correctly. The other problem might be that the background is too bright. Is your putting sensor light shining on the curtain in the background because the background should be darker than what I see in those pictures.

Got V-cam working OK
I moved the camera to the left side (behind right handed golfer). This got rid of reflections from the club shaft and head. I still had problems with high loft shots.
Turned out that the setting V_cam_max_angle seems to be problematic. I had it set to 70 and it seemed to make it not work for high loft shots. Setting it to 55 and it now seems to be working. Zmax helped me figure this out.
