Relief - Test Question
In taking relief from an obstruction, I found my nearest point of relief and marked it with a tee. What is the maximum distance from this point, from which I may play the next stroke? Reason?

(assuming that you mean relief without penalty).
20-2bi - relief from immovable obstruction 1 clublength.
24-2c - re-dropping - if ball rolls more than 2 clublengths from where it first struck a part of the course, then it must be redropped.
.... so the maximum distance is 3 clublengths from the nearest point of relief (although this would be a very rare occurrence).
With a penalty, it can be dropped (or possibly re-teed) as far away as the spot from which the last stroke was played if the player decides to call the ball unplayable.spidey
