I think what the people are really saying are that none of us could really afford this simulator as it is around 50k or more. So ha ha

I'm not sure that i think the golfzon software does look all that amazing. The water looks no better than GSA...certainly not as good as E6. And the trees, etc have a plastic-y look or something about them. Still, it is a step forward.

Agreed, RDH. I am not overly impressed with the graphincs of GolfZon. It appears to be a lot of propaganda similar to the 3dgolfdesign. I still think GSA may be our best option at the moment.

I haven't heard anything more, but will check with Dean. I think about the earliest we could hope for a release would be toward the end of 2012, and I won't be surprised if it's next year before it's ready. A lot of us are eagerly awaiting the first screenshots though, which will hopefully be shown in the next couple months...I'll see if I can find out any more.

I checked in with Dean and it sounds like the first screenshots are a while off. They've had some vacation time to schedule around lately, so I guess that's slowed them down a bit. I'm still hoping we see some initial screenshots before the summer, but not sure whether that will happen or not. In any case I'm still expecting we'd be lucky to see the new engine come out this year...I'm expecting 2013.

Thanks, RDH. Man, we sure have a lot of waiting to do. If I only knew where to find a pound of patience!

I will take 4 pound of that. Does anyone know the upgrade policy - if I pay a ridiculous price to Foresight now will they upgrade me to the new engine next year?

I'm sure they will upgrade you. But don't be surprise if they charge you a ridiculous upgrade price. I would expect all sim companies to pay for this upgrade, since it's pretty much a new simulation software and not an update or a fix.
Thanks for the news RDH. Since the E6 turned out to be so disappointing, I don't mind waiting.

That was my fear ZMAX. The "Upgrade" price will be just as much as the original software.

Would think that there would be an upgrade price.
It will also be to Red Chain advantage that people change to the new software so that they do not need to upgrade to sets of software.

In the latest sports coach newsletter at http://www.sports-coach.com/files/20...Newsletter.pdf, the end of the newsletter talks about their graphics update. It sounds like all they're doing are updating the textures used for terrain...it may look better, but it's not an overhaul of the trees, lighting, water, etc. Just a change to graphical texture files...nothing that makes the core engine different/better. There are a couple screenshots at the end that (if they're of the new revamped textures) are pretty underwhelming.
We continue to wait to see what red chain does...

Thanks for the update, RDH.
Lame is putting it mildly. I can't see it looking that bad. May 1st release?

I posted this in another thread, but thought it was worth posting here too. I saw a comment about the next-gen software from FullSwing Golf, so I checked their site and found a preview video. Man, it looks great! Hopefully red chain will be in a similar vein...

That is more than one step forward!
My guess would also be that it is a presentation and not real time graphics.
Still very impressive.

The new Full Swing software is actually new software where they have worked with a developer on it. They are still working on it, but are offering a free starter course pack for anyone that buys a Full Swing system now. On a similar note, Full Swing is now the distributor for Sports Coach (selling only through guys like myself) and are going to work on being able to offer this software with the Sports Coach camera system so that those of us in the 'under $50k' budget range can still play on those graphics. HOWEVER, until the software is available for sale, I wouldn't get my hopes up to high LOL

On a related note, I checked in with red chain this week to see how things are progressing and whether they're at the point of producing any screenshots from their next gen engine, but was told it is "Still very early." Red chain has always been very responsive to my requests so I don't want to knock them, but it seems the new engine has been in "very early" stage for over a year now. I do hope it is in fact being actively developed.

good catch bubba - I changed the post You think after 6 months of changing diapers I would have my sanity back, but guess not LOL!
Thanks for the update rdh - that's why I always say for customers looking to buy a system, you have to be ok with the system as it currently is and know that the potential future updates possibly may not come around or may come later than expected.
Happy Golfing All!

Interesting...I stumbled on some info for the source of the development work on the new full swing engine. It looks like it will be a PC game as well by (I think) a long-time Links Golf developer. I haven't even read through the thread yet - just wanted to post the link.

Yeah, that long time Links course developer is MikeJ of 3DGolfdesign. Remember that Foresight's new sim software(3D Golfblaster) thread? It has since been deleted. I now understand the confusion.
The Youtube video does look very good, but it's still a low res video.

It appears to be running on a SportsCoach simulator.
