Thanks for the reply, ZMax. I guess I thought that computer had everything I needed except a video card. I do not know much about computers. Can you give me a list of what key things I should be looking for? What are the main items that need to be part of the system? Thanks for your help. I will definately not buy that computer. You just saved me $140

Definetely underpowered. The computer requirements for the dd are right on their website
-
11-08-2010 08:24 PM #36big hitterGuest
I see that the system requirements are:
- Windows 7, XP or Vista
- USB 2.0
- Memory: 2 GB
- Disk Space: 3 GB
- Video Card: 256 MB; Open GL 2.0 Compliance
Bubba22, when you said that the computer was underpowered, what did you mean?
Sorry, but i have trouble looking at computer specs and figuring if they are good enough for the DD. Can anyone give me some links to a computer that would work well?
Thanks in advance

Here's one. It's actually a faster machine that what I'm using. It has a built in video with HDMI out and it might work with DD if the graphics detail is turn down.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...709&CatId=5138
If the on-board video can't cut it, you can put one of these in there and you'll even be able to turn up the detail.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814261057
Or for a little bit more, you can go with a quad and then upgrade the video:http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...407&CatId=4925
These are just examples. Do you have a computer/electronics store in your area?

The computer you were looking at barely had a gig of ram and only a p4 processor on top of no dedicated video.

Spend the 500 bucks bighitter. It is worth it for the extra video and processor power and is more than enough for dd,

Hey ZMax,
Do you think the video card in that Acer ($389 model) will be okay? Thanks for the recommendation

It might be ok with the detail turned all the way down. The problem is that it has no onboard memory. It would have to use sytem RAM, which is slower but you'll have plenty of it(4GB).
Like psace said, the $500 computer is the better buy. You get a quad core cpu and it comes with an entry level video card that has VRAM onboard(512Mb?). And it's only $100 more than the Acer.

The video card in the Acer is an on board card that relies on memory from the board ie no dedicated video memory. It may work but certainly wouldn't be as good. If you buy the Acer and add a video card then the cost will be up to that of the $500 computer. It is not clear what the memory on the video card of that computer is however (NVIDIA GeForce 310).

So, if I go with the $500 computer, will I have to buy anything else for it?
Thanks again guys, for all of your input. I really appreciate it

Looks like you need a monitor too unless you have one?

While browsing the Dancin Dogg website, I noticed that the premium course Georgia Peach(Augusta) is no longer listed. I wonder what is going? Good thing I bought it before they took it away.

That is very strange, Zmax. I thought the graphics were a little different on that course compared to the others.
I wonder what the company is up to now. There hasn't been much talk of anything in the pipeline lately.
Cvclub, any input here?

I am not using the practice zone much but did last night.
Ether I have improved my swing speed or the practice zone shows faster swing speed than the 3dd software? I should have started up the 3dd to compare but got away from it.

That is the Optishot. The only thing you need to be carefule is the possible custom dues at the border. That may negate the 20 percent off. My advice would be to buy one locally or at least talk to Cory in Canada.

ya ive considered this. lately ive ordered many things from the USA. i actually get it shipped to a mail box just across the border and go pick up the items. ive brought back amounts from 100-500$ and have been sent inside once to pay the taxes.
shipping is free and no tax, only thing id have to pay (if i get sent inside the office) is the 12% which cory is charging as well (have spoke to him already).
Thx bubba, just wanted to make sure this is the unit everyone is buying.

Contacted them ans they said they will refund
http://www.google.ca/m/url?client=sa...uOuZa_NzFVkMTw

Mine shipped too- same price as Kenny- free shipping- but did have sales tax- so 339 still better than 399 plus tax.
I got my projector on Ebay- used- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...id=p2761.l1259
not the best one- but for the price- great deal- I checked before I bought for the price on ebay for bulbs- I suggest anyone else buying a used projector to do the same- Prices for replacements for the canon I got were around 140- but I have seen some projectors bulbs at $300+. Just gotta shop around and be patient enough to bid to get the best price.
