Muskoka courses
I'm heading to Muskoka with the boys for a week. Anyone have a favorite course or two that you'd recommend?

Muskoka Bay is supposed to be amazing. Bigwin Island as well. how much are you looking to spend?
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Since the accommodation is taken care of (the upside of having inlaws), I've got about a g-note to lay down on food, liquor & golf over 5 days (cohibas are in the humidor). I like Bigwin a lot and will include it for sure. Muskoka Bay is actually owned by a childhood friend, but I've never played the course. Taboo looks nice in the photo that's in the Globe & Mail ad... But for 200 bones, I'm hoping for more than nice. Know what I mean?

If you go north enough Deerhurst Highlands.

The Rock is also nice...Rocky Crest and Lake Joe's are Clublink courses and nice...
If you think it's hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.

I played the Ridge at Manitou last year and it was great. Used to be private it went semi-private last summer. I believe it was $150. It's about 20 minutes north of Parry's Sound.
Worth the drive.http://www.ridgeatmanitou.com/

Deerhurst is overrated, but Taboo is not...a must play....
Also there is Grandview ( I believe this is clublink though ) that is great.
And The Rock ( Faldo design ) is awesome....

Muskoka is a very big place. Think Pembrook to cornwall You can spend all of your vacation driving. If you give us a sense of where your inlaws are and I can give you some of the better options.
3-4 ...... time to settle the score

Skip the long drive and the expense. Go to Smuggler's Glen in the 1000 Islands. Superb course, and you'd swear you were in the Muskokas.
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Lake Jo is in brilliant condition! Rocky is always a blast...Taboo is full value and probably the best around that you can play. If you like pretty then The Rock is great...if you like layout and golfing your ball it is a stupid, bad golf course and they have had problems there since opening. Deerhurst is FAAAAR and very 1992. Bigwin is fun but is an all day outing with the boat ride over and such and Grandview is very nice if you are going that far(close to deerhurst)
Fairways and Greens!

Warning: played Taboo in June and the fairways got burned by fertilizer! Ouch!!
Deerhurst and North Granite Ridge are in stellar shape.
