    Entering a unfinished round

What is the rule on entering 7 holes of an unfinished 18 hole round.
Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing, ... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...

You'd enter it as a 9-hole round with par+handicap strokes entered for the final two holes.

I could be wrong... but if you play 12 holes... you take net par's for the rest of the unfinished holes?

You are. If 12 holes are played, you enter the score you made for the first 9. The rest do not count.

You must play 13 or more holes to enter an 18 hole round and for the unfinished holes, it is as JV indicated above. Par + and handicap stokes that you would have received for the unfinished holes.

How long have these particular rules (for unfinished rounds) been in existence? Reason I ask is, I haven't kept a handicap in many many years and I don't remember these rules when I did.

Frankly it seems ridiculous that you can enter a score if you play 13 holes...we all know how quickly the game can change in either direction. Weird.

They've been that way for at least the last 8 years or so.

True, but on the average, you will score par plus any handicaps strokes you would be entitled to receive. Perhaps the idea came as a solution to the many golfers who used to quit before the round was over to prevent having to put in a exceptionally good or bad game. But then, a quitter would not likely comply with the current requirements.
