    Anybody hit them yet?

Has anyone hit the DG SLs yet? I am thinking about putting a new set of irons together and a DG around 100g sounds pretty good. I am also considering Rifles as well.

I have hit the SL's, just out of curiosity, and the performance was pretty good but the shafts you should look at are the tx-90's or the tx-tour's. To me it seems like the reasoning for the SL was to keep the DG look but reduce the weight. If you can get over the look of the TX series I think you are better off. I have fit a number of players into the TX series and have seen great results. The other point to consider is length and swingweight. If this is your first experience with going into the lightweight steel shaft category be ready to take alot of extra time balancing them and reconsidering length because of the low swingweights you will find with them.

    Cheers,
    Mike

Mike. according to True Temper the balance point of the DGSL allows clubmakers to reshaft a set of Dynamic Gold Irons a set at the same finished length with no change on swingweight. Go to http://www.truetemper.com/products/s...olf_shafts.htm and click on the Dynamic gold Sl and you'll be able to view all the specs.

The fact that they balance to give the same swingweight is what appeals to me. In general I am a DG fan, and the idea of the same characteristics in a lighter shaft intrigue me. I've tried the TX-90s and I just don't like them - they feel sort of "rigid" (not stiff) to me (hard to describe). I was wondring if the SLs really do play feel like regular DGs but just with a lighter weight. I am in the process of experimenting anyhow so I'll probably try them out in a 5 iron at some point.
