Los Angeles golf

Hello All,

I've searched the threads in the Travel section and I haven't come across much info on Los Angeles area golf courses.

I will be there for 8 days starting on Jan 16 and was looking to get 2 rounds in on our last two days, the Fri/Sat. We haven't decided where we are going to stay yet, but it will either be in the greater LA area or in Newport/Orange Cty.

I have found some nice courses in the Newport/OC area with some great websites but there isn't really much info on courses in the LA area. I now realize that the majority of the courses in that area are private but I do see that there are some public and municipal ones...unfortunately their websites suck.

Any info from people who have played there would be greatly appreciated...both for LA and for Orange County.

I would highly recommend http://www.sobobaspringscc.com/, beautiful course and sceanary. My wife and I play it in March 2009. I think it is about an hour out of LA approx., the friends we were visiting drove, so I'm guessing on the time, but well worth the trip.
The Nation Wide Tour played it this last fall.
Fantastic club house and very reasonable priced food.

We are going back to LA again this March, not sure if we'll make it back to Soboba, but definitly hoping to make it to Torry Pines.
