Problem is the Europeans were standing together on the first tee. Tiger and Phil were at opposite sides of the tee.
Also, not one of the 4 got it even close to the fairway.I've spent most of my life golfing .... the rest I've just wasted"

I found the BBC, although rather basic looking to be pretty up to date.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/golf/3665078.stm
then click on open match updates.
Looks like it not going the americans way so far:
1014: EUROPE WIN HOLE
Woods/Mick'son v M'gomerie/H'ington 2 up after eight holes.
Padraig Harrington drains a 15-footer on the par-four eighth to take Europe back to two up against the world's number two and four. Behind, Paul McGinely birdies the sixth to take Europe up in all four matches.
Good news but still a long long way to go though!!

It's early but Europe is up in all 4 matches.
The most stable and updated site seems for me to be http://www.golfweb.com/tournaments/rydercup/leaderboard
Enjoy!

Tiger and Phil
I wonder if this would be a good pairing when they get to alternate shot; I'm talking about a lefty and a righty not personalities.
Wouldn't either player be fighting against their instinct when it comes to making a shot that would place the ball in an advantaged position fo the other?

I wonder whether it is a good pairing at all. Number 2 and 4 in the world in the same pairing, seems a bit of a waste since it is best ball that wins. I can see that Hal Sutton wants an early cushion but if they lose they have piled more pressure on two players who have not done well in Ryder Cups in the past.
GO EUROPE!

Great Story
Came across this. What a nice gesture by Sergio. He might be a dink, but he's a nice dink....

This keeps up the US could be down 3 1/2 to 4 after one round not a good place to be.

I fear my prediction of US domination was wrong. Oh well that's why I have yet to win the Lotto I guess, I clearly do not have any prophetic skills.
Tiger & Phil lose: That's why they play the game to quote Berman!Lots of yoga pants these days, not enough Yoga!

Its a long way from over, I still predict USA wins the cup, but I'm delighted Europe is ahead.

Wow. Unless Riley and Campbell pull ahead of McGinley and Donald, its a clean sweep 4-0 for Europe!

Sutton must be chewing the antenna off his walkie-talkie. 64 total holes played and the US hasn't held the lead once.

Gotta luv the "US of A" getting their collective butts kicked in the morning matches.
I'm guessing the Woods/Mickelson pairing is not the best combo.
Anyone else notice how they were kinda playing their own game and not really doing the team thing??? Isnt that what the Ryder Cup is all about? You see it every time they play for it. The europeans love this format and love playing as a team. I wish the US would learn this part of it (let go of their egos and play as a team).
On paper I would be hard pressed to bet on the europeans, but then again, it's like betting on Ottawa in the playoffs over Toronto. Toronto has the heart to win over the talent, and so do the Europeans.I've spent most of my life golfing .... the rest I've just wasted"

Looks like the dream team have got their act together, Phil and Tiger are 3 up.
I bunked off work just after lunch and am now watching at home. Tiger is smiling now but earlier on all you could see was tiger saying f**k after every wayward shot.
Hang in their Europe!

It's all good now Hank. Clarke & Westwood are now 1-up. Nice comeback. I just love that Darren will not back down from Tiger. That's a neat rivalry.

With Phil's awful drive on #18, kind of makes you wonder why he would change golf clubs a week before the Ryder Cup, he should have switched last week. I guess Callaway maybe paid him extra to do it before the Cup, it may have back fired on Callaway.
