My heart is with the Pens. Tough choice. The Wings don't puck around

He played 77 games so i don't think it was 2 months. In 2007-2008 he only played 53 games.

Well the Pro Hockey Writers obviously disagree with you as Malkin got the nod over Crosby for the Heart....
I believe I stated that league GM's would take Crosby over most others not sports writers. Although I have respect for the majority of sports writers, GM's write their opinions on roster sheets and pay cheques. We could get into anecdotal evidence on both sides, think Yashin as a good example of both being wrong
Gino had a great year don't get me wrong, he's recognized as an exceptional talent and this year he's playing with heart but Sid is a recognized franchise player.
Hope its an entertaining game 7

I know this is about the Pens, but just so you know, SI did a PLAYERS poll and asked who the best player was in the NHL. It was Ovechkin, BY FAR! Like way over 50% of the vote. I think Sid was tied for 2nd, I'll have to double check, with around 10% of the vote. Personally I don't think he's even the best player on his team either.

Actually I was talking about the scoring title winners. Did not look at the second, third…down the list. Nonetheless these are all big names and Sid achieved this at a very young age.

What has he done since? WOW!!!

    Last year:
72 points in 53 games last year.
    Had a major injury
27 points in 20 games in the post season.
    Got to the cup final.

    This year:
103 points in 77 games (Malkin played 5 more games. Both players have a similar goal per game average 1.33 and 1.37)
31 points in 23 post season games
Got to the cup final AGAIN!
All this with a team that was not making the post season at the all star break.

Like I said, both are great players just different. Some just love to hate.

As for Sid wearing the C in 2010. I’ll wager you a round that he does. A walking golf round at HP that is.

Personally I think Sid is better then Ovy but that my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, Ovy is awesome and extremely entertaining more so then Sid is but he does not make his team better like Sid goes. If Ovy does not score, the Caps are screwed. Ovy is a prolific goal scorer and that’s why, in my opinion, most believe he is the better player. Because he is more spectacular to look at. Sid does all the little things right to make his team better a lot like Gretz did. I also think Malkin is a better, more complete player then Ovy. Some scouts also thought the same thing at the draft when Ovy and Malkin went 1 and 2.

It’s the same debate between Gretz and Lemieux back in the day. Gretz was the ultimate playmaker and brought his team to a higher level because of it. Lemieux was a magician with the puck. But that’s another debate.

He could break every one of the single season scoring records (which he'll never do) and I'd still dislike him as a hockey player based simply on the fact that I can't stand whiners. If he ever grows up and stops all of the incessant chirping then maybe I'll be able to appreciate him more, until that happens he'll get no love from me.

As for your walking round at HP, thanks for the offer but I'll pass Just knowing that Jerone Iginla, who is pretty much a lock as far as I'm concerned unless one of Scott Neidermayer or Joe Sakic plays, Captained the Red and White to a gold medal will be reward enough for me.

I have to believe that Stevie Y will follow the time honoured tradition of handing the "C" over to an elder statesman who put in his time by wear Canada's colours on a number of occassions........don't rule out someone like Shane Doan either

Was cheering for the Detroit, but I must say it was pretty satisfying seeing the look on Hossa's face as he had to congratulate his former teammates. I was much less impressed with the fact that half the pens, including their captain, missed the handshakes. Bad form.

Bad form indeed! Nice role models there - NOT!! I'm sure that Gary Bettman was very proud of his "boy"

Better team on the night won though. Fleury played well and it was great to see the Pens pull it off despite Crosby disappearing in the finals.

Great game, the Pens deserved it and outplayed Detroit most of the night.

    Karma's a b!tch. Just ask Marian Hossa.
