    Control

    I have found latley that my golf has been very inconsistent. I will play a good round of golf then the next day play very bad. Or i will hit some very good shots, then some bad ones. To keep my consistency, will choking down on the club help with my control and consistency? I'm aware that i will lose distence, that is the least of my problems considering im i long ball hitter.

    let me know

    Depends. Are you only making mistakes on the long clubs? If yes, then choking down might help.

    It may be that the clubs are simply too long for you.

    how can you tell if your clubs are to long? should your driver be at your belly button or something like that?

    thanks

    if your pre shot routine is inconsistent then your shots will likely be inconsistent as well. I find my best games come when I have the same routine for all my irons and a good routine with my driver.

    Get some impact decals. If you consistenrly hit the center of the face then the lengths are right for you. If not grip down until most hits are on the center of the face. Once you find the sweet spot on a regular basis then get your lies and swingweight adjusted if needed.

    I would suggest a session with a qualified club fitter. They use several methods (impact decals, sole impact tape, launch monitor, etc) to judge if the clubs "fit" you and your swing. After that, there's no need to adjust your grip to suit the clubs if they're not right for you.
    Unfortunately, there are no short cuts to consistency. Regular "proper" practice, clubs that fit you, regular playing, and mentally being prepared for every shot go a long way toward insuring consistency. Consistency is always a work in progress!
