I don't get it. We have a successfully PGA Tour player who has chosen to become a Canadian resident, and we beat him up because he still has a love for his home country of Trinidad and Tobago, or because he has a unique smile. I would prefer to simply say "Thanks for making Canada your home." And contrary to some on this site, I don't find his candour off-putting at all. Were that a character flaw, many visitors to this site would be in need of some serious help.

I wonder how many stupid things we'd all regret saying if we had microphones thrust in our face everyday when we were at "work". A guy who will diss you for saying something stupid one time will be a lonely guy...

Because he grew up here, learned his first steps in golf here, played and won at the junior level in CDN. That’s what makes me proud.
Him living in the States is no different then Mario Lemieux, Gretz, Lecavalier….I’m still proud when they play and win for there country in tourneys like the World cup.

The feeling is just a little more visceral when Mike wins than when Stephen does. But I am proud of both of them.
