Anybody here practice MMA? Interested in getting into this or JiuJitsu but not sure if my 42 year old abused body will take it.

I studied MMA for a number of years, well past your current age, primarily Shotokan Karate, Aikido and some JiuJitsu. It is strenous, but easily doable and very good for aerobic, balance and strength training. You can take non-contact classes, where the contact is fairly light and they will certainly make allowances for your age.
I will say one thing... those JiuJitsu guys are pretty tough... ... some of their classes can be pretty grueling. Karate might be a bit less strenuous. Judo offers many of the same benefits and techniques without the emphasis on striking blows and is probably a little easier on the older body (although don't tell any Judo guys I said that or they'll kick my... )

I'm also a cross-discipline guy (boxing, judo, wing chun, JKD, you name it) and I'd say look at what they are teaching under the MMA label. Calling it MMA doesn't really mean much...

If they have a couple of really good teachers it might be worth looking at. Same with the JJ school. What type of JJ is it? Brazilian, traditional Japanese, Wally Jay-esque small-circle stuff?
