Interesting Clublink Error
I really think this is just an error but did anyone else notice the curious mistake in the large Clublink ad in todays Ottawa Citizen? The ad features a fairly detailed map of the Ottawa area and eastern Quebec with major highways and roads shown and dots that indicate all Clublink courses.
Of course it has Kanata Lakes listed along with GH, EC, HP etc. but the mistake is what they show as the Kanata course is not anywhere near Kanata Lakes, in fact it is near Followfield and Prince-of-wales in south Barrhaven. For anyone who knows the area, the golf course indicated on the map is Stonebridge.
Before I get flamed for inciting rumours let me say again that I think it is an honest mistake but it is curious that of all the many dozens of courses in Ottawa the Clublink map created by the Clublink headoffice marketing dept. would have Stonebridge on it.If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

I don't think it's an error, just bad mapping. Look where they placed GH. It appears to be somewhere around Place d'Orleans off the 174 as opposed to further south off the 417. Were they to place KL where it is supposed to be it would be directly under the EC text.

Well, bad mapping in my books is an error.
Agreed, it is probably due to the proximity of EG and KL but the map is definitely misleading. The reason I even noticed it is because KL was so far south on the map. Gives the impression that CL has coverage to the east/west/north and south of Ottawa which is not true.
South ottawa is very under-served by CL. I'd love to join but closest course is 30-40mins away and the funny thing is I could get to all of the Ottawa CL courses incl. HP in about that same amount of time but I need something closer. If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

just looked at that map. they have GH up near the Ottawa river and HP on the wrong side of the highway and closer to downtown Hull, in addition to Kanata being in Barrhaven.
someone should buy them a map.I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Either way that's pathetic. Even worse if it was done to look more evenly spread.

It is pretty bad they cannot put a decent map into an ad. I know how much it costs to advertise in the Citizen they should have a detailed map to scale. The bad news is that almost all ads for all companies have been and will continue to be done like this. Good news is if you use the internet almost every company has a very detailed map now.

I have done many ads with the citizen, CL may or may not have provided the map, but at the end of the day, the ad would have been proofed prior to printing by someone from CL.
I have found that the maps in many ads in the local papers are less than accurate.

Have seen many advertising maps where the location position is questionable.
Especially when a company is trying to show close proximity to something ie. Highways, Schools, Shopping Centres etc.......
Many firms are using Google Satellite in their marketing material now and rightly "should be", so this allows for the locations to be in the right positions.....WE HOPE !!!

And how many companies use maps that are not to scale just to show how close they are to something positive. Builders are notorious for that, trying to show how close they are to major routes when they are so far off the beaten path you need GPS.
It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

Fair enough, but it doesn't make it ok. This map is WAY off... especially with respect to where Kanata Golf and CC is. For those who haven't seen it, here is a link.

And not only is Kanata indicated where Stonebridge is but Greyhawk is shown very close to where Camelot is. Oh no - more speculation
