460CC Opinions ...
I've decided it might be time to 'catch up' and start using a 460CC driver.
I went to GT on the weekend to check out the Sumo squared and took a few shots with it, the sumo, the 905R & the G5. I got the best results from the 905R & the G5, w/ waaay too much spin being generated by the Nike's (and this isn't te 1st tiem I've had that problem when testing a Nike driver)...p.s. sumo squared sounded exactly like a wood block @ contact
I was relatively happy w/ the results from both the 905R & the G5 (although, as was the case a year ago when I first tried them, I hated the feel...but I think I could get used to it).
Just wondering what 460cc heads you guys would recommend...Ideally looking for something from last season to save a few $$ .. also a tie breaker would be something @ .335 since I have a few .335 tip shafts lying around the house at the moment.
Particularly interested to hear any opinions on Taylor Mades .. I've had some success w/ their 500 series i nthe past, but have not been keeping up to date on their most recent lines.
p.s. I am currently playing a 905T, and occasionally a 540XD.Last edited by Nat Williams; 02-04-2007 at 08:20 PM.

I have the 905R. Best driver I've ever had and looks really good from address. This isn't the case with most of the 460CC IMO. I really like the classic shape of the 905R and it's probably one of the few with a square face. Be careful when you put a shaft as this one, unlike the 905T, has real bore-thru. Feels good, looks good and hits the ball a mile...that's probably why it is the most played 460CC driver on tour...seen quite a few in non-titleist staff players...

Does it need to be OEM?
Check out the Wishon heads if you want to go the component route.

I went from the 580XD to the 460 and didn't think i would find anything I liked better than the 580XD. The weights really work and allow you to taylor the ball flight. I also think this club is longer than the 580XD as well.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Hi Nat
Go with the 2004/5 model Callaway Ti 454, and reshaft from stock 350 to 335 with the Billy Bob ferrule adapter sold by Golfsmith and Golfworks. This head is a bomb!
Your TP Fujikura Fit-On-Six would be a great reshaft option considering it's 335 tip.
Ti 454 won both the 2004 Men's Open division and 2005 Women's division of the Re/MAX World Long Drive Championship. New at Golftown it's on sale for $249 Cad. They can be had a lot cheaper new off eBay, but be careful on the counterfeits.
My son plays the Ti 454 9* LH reshafted 0.335 tip and he couldn't be happier. Long and Accurate. When he did driver head evaluations it was the 'cream of the crop'.Kind regards, Harry

if you are looking to try out the TM clubs, i would suggest trying the R5. I have a couple tour heads and i think the ball rockets off the face of these heads, and with the right shaft i know tons of guys that still think this head is the best. I don't believe it is 460cc, but it is close i believe.

I have both the R7 460 (non TP) and R5 TP though I haven't hit the latter since I got it late in the season. I can let you know my thoughts on the latter come the spring.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.
