    MOI Matched - Period Counter

Am I correct in assuming that if a set of irons is MOI matched and I measure the clubs using a period counter, like the one Tom Wishon sells, that the actual time per cycle for each club is the same?

Yes. You'll need to do the math to get a numeric value for MOI.

The equations were in one of the other MOI threads.

Do your clubs all have the same balance point?

I have method for completing the MOI of a set and this I use when I assemble my clubs. I was unsure if the periods were to be the same or if there should be a linear relationship between each club.

Using my crude period counter and a stopwatch, I found that the range for the highest and lowest times, for 10 cycles was .2 sec, or .02 sec per cycle, which would indicate a pretty good match. I then added a little lead tape to the head of the lowest and remeasured, finding that the total time went up .3 sec.

The equations that I used indicated that my 550M's were all within .25% of each other, but I just wanted some sort of confirmation that my method was correct, as I am a user of someone else's ideas, versus a creator of same.

The range of balance points was .6".

You can borrow my period counter if you'd like.

How low of a frequency will a typical freq monitor measure, e.g., a Club Scout? Can they calculate low enough for measuing the MOI period?

Don't know. All i can tell you is that Kaufman can modify one. I don't know how it's done. He did this one for Mark Patton before Wishon came out with his.
