Match Play - Conceding Putts
When playing a match my opponent concedes a 2' putt for a four, by saying "That's good."
Instead of picking up the ball, I putt it and miss. Can my opponent now claim that my score is a five, because I putted and missed, or, is my score still a four because he conceded the putt previously and it should not matter that I missed the putt?
Is there a proper way of conceding a putt? It seems to me that in my golfing infancy, which is too many years ago, the proper precedure was to either pick up the opponents marker/ball or just knock the ball away, because verbal concessions could be misunderstood.

Concession of a stroke, hole or match may not be declined or withdrawn.
Strokes played in continuing the play of a hole, the result of which has been decided, are not practice strokes.
Once your opponent has conceded your next stroke, your play of that hole is completed.
It is irrelevant whether or not you putt. Your number of strokes for that hole remains the same.
There is no "defined" way to concede a stroke, hole, or match.
The procedure is to clearly indicate to your opponent that a concession is being made.
Simply saying: "That's good" or "I will give you that one" is fine for a short putt.
"I concede this hole" or "I concede the match" is all that is needed for concession of a hole or match.
