Timber Run Photos
Monday was a beautiful day, and I made my way down to Lanark to photograph Timber Run. I did not get to play, but the course certainly has some pretty holes! The clubhouse is definately a one of a kind treasure.

I'm sure the clubhouse is awesome but no golfers with an handicap of 15 or less will be challenged by a 5000 yd par 69...

I have heard it is quite challenging. Target golf, and it helps to know your way around as there are some tight holes. It is very nicely grown in for it's first year, and when I was there they were working on new drainage. It is obvious to me that they have been working hard to make this one worth the drive.

its an hour or so drive, so i would be interested in hearing if its worth it from someone who has played it...it seems short, but that doesnt always mean that its not a good or intersting course..thanx..

I have played the course many times. It is a very challenging course. There are a lot of risk reward holes. Longer hitters can get themselves into a ton of trouble by trying to carry some of the hazards. And if you end up in the rough it is very difficult to find your ball and if you do find it, then it is tough to get out of it. To score well you really have to be accurate with your irons. And pay attention to the hole layouts on the scorecard not the signs.
Well that is my opinion....

I still can't believe some people think this course is challenging. To prove to you, here's what a friend's foursome shot last week:
John ( 14 handicap ): 78
Steve ( 7 handicap ): 69
Martin ( 4 handicap ): 70
Eric ( 12 handicap ): 74
Martin and Steve reached 6 par 4's each (on the green or right next to it in the rough or bunkers) and both par 5's in 2. There was 5 eagles in the foursome and over 10 birdies.
It is true that on some holes they got a penalty stroke for hitting hazards but when a lot of holes are reachable in 1 stroke under Green In Regulation, you can get that stroke back very easily.
The course is so short and they were almost always waiting for the group in front of us to clear the green. The marshall even yelled at them for doing so and they explained to the guy in the proshop and to the marshall the situation (long hitters, good golfers) and those employees replied that they shouldn't play a course like that then!!! I couldn't believe it when they told me the story!
I'm definitely staying away from that course!!! That's pathetic!

Low score
Sounds like a course to play if you want to do some bragging on your lowest score ever.
Otherwise, not worth the drive.
Just out of curiosity, do they have a course rating or slope yet?
