    Grounds Crews on courses

    My question is

Why do golf course crews work in a clockwise direction when cutting grass, etc.
Every course they always cut holes 1-18 vs the common sense 18-1 route.

Today at Pineview we had the same mower follow us for 6 holes.
Why not go in the opposite direction so I only see you once and we go our separate ways?

Maybe I'm the only one that finds this annoying. Mostly because it seems like an very easy solution.

1-18 is common sense IMO. They ideally stay ahead of the first group but doesn’t always work out. Every group would see them the other way around

Yes, good if they leave before the first group of the day.
But these are crews working during the middle of the day. So they start on a random hole, my luck is that I'm there and then we are side by side for a bunch of holes listening to lawn equipment.

Maybe I'm the only one that this happens too.

I hear what you are saying Grabster. This may turn into a bashing of PINEVIEW unfortunately. I have bee in the same predicament many times there. The fellas don't even turn off the machines while a foursome is putting. We have mentioned it several times and it did not make any difference. To be honest---the work has to be done and with the rain the grass does not stop growing. BUT it makes you wonder we have not had this problem at any of the other courses we play ………………..?????????? To me it's a courtesy thing
    Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

The holes are cut in order in the hopes of staying ahead of the golfers. Once the course is busy the speed of maintenance is greatly reduced. The crew needs to get out early and stay ahead of as many golfers as possible.

If you are in the fairway then the crew should move off to the side to let you through. If you are putting, the greens mower would pull off the green and turn the blades off. They will leave the mower in idle rather than stop and start. An idling mower should not be a distraction when putting. It is not the same as a noise in your backswing.
This is not the Pine View you remember from years gone by. Come back and see what we have done and what we have in store for the future - www.pineview.com
