I love your optimism but you can uncross those fingers. It ain’t happening. Doug’s got his heels dug in, he’s surrounded himself with ineptitude and only listens to what he wants to hear.
June can’t come soon enough.

Joke. More 'limiting mobility' talk. Lady, have you seen the roads lately? You haven't limited anything, just redirected traffic to parks, trails, each others houses, garden centres and Quebec instead of hundred+ acre golf courses!

Golf done until at least June 2, sounds like longer though.

He is fine with Golf but not people going drinking after. But he cool with Cosco and Walmart parking lots being packed. Roads full of cars that hasn't changed since before Covid. Glad I bought my SkyTrak.

Who is drinking at courses after a round? All those amenities are closed.
Apparently friends will only gather to drink somewhere (not the course or a bar cause those are closed) if they've played golf first?
Sound logic right there.

The people Ford is referring to who will 'drink a few pops' together after a round are the ones who are likely to do it anyway... they don't need the excuse of a round of golf. So instead of giving everyone an outlet to gather in small groups with the relative safety being outdoors provides, they're just pushing people to gather privately and indoors which just makes the problem worse. Morons.

I really feel for all of you. Although I'm living in Quebec, my kids live in Kanata. And I was talking to my ex-wife this morning and we share the concern of our kids being cooped up and not getting to interact with their friends or do other activities than simply go for hikes or go to a playground/park.

humpty dumpty is stubborn and just wants his ways.... I just feel sorry for all the small business owners who still not allow to be open. All these mismanagements by Ontario (already a year of incompetence's) Just look at his track record and we are in the same place if not worse! It's time to stop this nonsense (quick to point fingers to someone else beside his doings)

Very disappointed
I have always been supportive of our political leaders and realize that they have a super tough job but can't understand why we are the only place in the world where golf is not allowed. Does Premier Ford have information he is not sharing ?

I'm wondering how many frustrated people who vent here have actually contacted their mpp's,the Premier's office or anyone else who they feel have had a role in formulating these policies.

An article in the New York Times earlier this week reported that there have been no documented cases of getting Covid outdoors through casual contact. As someone said. Doug Ford has dug his heels in regardless of the facts. Why not give exemptions to those with the vaccine? Also, Ottawa is doing better than the Outaouais with new cases when you factor the population difference. Makes no sense.

I found this comment by Ford to be very irresponsible. If he's concerned about mobility just look at the number of cars out there this weekend and the number of people that will be outside and yet he thinks golf is a catalyst for private gatherings for drinks. I get to play courses in Quebec and I'm just thankful for the opportunity to play and be with my friends. That is the social event for me. And as much as I enjoy a few beers after a round, I'll wait until its allowed and it really doesn't feel like a huge sacrifice.
I'm curious how many members on this forum have gathered privately after a round of golf this year or what percentage of times have you done so after a round.

No gattering at my club last year. The club would have been fine or closed if an inspector came by and saw some gattering.

I played two rounds before the lockdown this year. I was glad to get out and there was no gathering after. We all took separate vehicles.
Last year I played 55 rounds, thats almost twice as many as my normal years always the same 3 or 4 guys and one was always my dad. We played all over Ottawa and Gatineau.
There was only two occasions where we went to a restaurant after a round. We tried it shortly after the patio season opened and then again at a restaurant in Stittsville in Aug and hated it even more as the experience seemed too relaxed and not really following protocols.
After that we decided to just hit chip trucks and ate in/at our own vehicles when done.
Like most have said its terrible that Ford has labeled everyone an irresponsible drunk.....or in short...his buds
