So it doesn’t look like golf will reopen by this weekend based on the lack of updates today. I’m just wondering if anyone has tried to crossed over the Gatineau side to play? I’ve heard of a few risking it and paying off and it seems that tee times over there are booked solid. What are other people seeing?
Go Sens Go or No Sens No? The struggle of a Sens fan.

I know of a few people that have crossed and played without any repercussions. The question is what happens if by chance you get caught by the police trolling the parking lots, or by a checkpoint on the way there or back. I can't answer your question if it is worth the risk. As much as I am itching to play, I don't feel like lining any coffers on either side of the provincial border.

Some pressure from the city to open outdoor facilities including golf ,hopefully another week of pressure on Dougy , and he'll pull his head out of his ☆☆☆☆☆ and open the courses back up
At the end of the day ... It gets dark

16 Ottawa city councillors are in favor of opening golf courses, but Mayor Watson is siding with Dr.Etches in keeping the courses closed..

Etches is about the least scientific PHO I've ever seen. Yay Ottawa.

The risk of catching Covid outdoors is rare. Out on a golf course basically zero. Common sense says we should be outside, not gathering indoors.

This is unreal---we went to Plante Nursery on the Naven Road yesterday---the parking lot was packed !!! All plants under roof and there must have been 200 folks inside buying---all with masks . It was well organized--quick but they still had 200 folks in an enclosed greenhouse.
When did nurseries become an essential business ???
This whole thing is just blowing my 76 year old brainDoes the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

omg this guy again.
She is ONE Dr. When many many many other Dr are saying Golf and other social distance sports are fine. My mom works in the medical field as well so you aren't the only one with an inside view. You get so offended when people comment about stupid thing Dr's do. Curb you emotions. Be rational and stop taking things so personal.
I want golf back because I want to have a good mental health. We've been stuck inside all winter and this is the only time we have to enjoy the outdoors. My mental health is important to me and I've been going into a depression with the winter. Golf was my only sanctuary to be outside with out being surrounded by people.

LOL no.
The job of a PHO is to gather and communicate scientific data to decision-makers and make recommendations based on that data. It's not their job to make policy based on their guts or feelings.
Where's the data to support Etches' on:
- Her insistence people should wear masks outdoors
- That we "can't vaccinate our way out of the pandemic"
- That outdoor recreation is unsafe
- That curbside pick-up is unsafe
The data doesn't exist, here or anywhere else. Her only solution is to just lockdown harder and harder, regardless of what the data suggests about efficacy.
I'm sure she's doing what she thinks is best. I don't believe she's a bad actor. But she's being given too much power and is ignoring science constantly. That's a recipe for bad policy.

Good policy development always relies on solid evidence-based data or facts. In this case, things went wrong when civil liberties were restricted to achieve a particular desired outcome by questionable means (restricting certain outdoor activities like tennis/golf) that are not supported by such data - bad policy development. As a scientist, I can only agree that, in this case, the data does not support the restrictions that were imposed on outdoor activities. In the end, the optics on this are terrible as it just looks like doing ‘something’ because you should be doing ‘something’. The really bad part about it all is that bad policy development erodes public trust to the point where some will disregard or even go against civil liberty restrictions (e.g. masks) that are clearly evidence based. What a mess....

HEY THIS IS A GOLF WEBSITE - GOLF TOPICS - and not much golf to talk about but when you do...
Be Kind. Be respectful. We all have our own opinions and some are best kept that way - to ourselves...
Don't make it personal. And if you have a doubt, there is NO DOUBT. Don't post it.
BTW - I was talking to a friend of mine who lost both his parents to covid back in April. Golf was not part of the conversation.
IMO - So I believe covid effects all of us - no exemptions.
Front line workers to stay at home virtual teachers assistants (Moms) to elected officials to local bylaw. Everyone has pain.
... be kind.
