I have my own philosophy on this, which isn't totally "offline" with yours.
If you are roughly a bogey golfer, so roughly 15-18 Handicap, when you make a swing, 1 of these 3 things will happen ...
1. 80% of the time you EITHER get the right line, OR the right distance, but NOT BOTH.
2. 10% of the time you get BOTH the right line and distance.
3. 10% of the time you want to take a Mulligan, because you really pooched it.
Just my $0.02You always hit a good shot on 18 to keep you coming back.

Is there a place online where we can see what is available ahead of time or are we supposed to make a mad dash to the search and filter button when it’s go time?

I was interested in a set of irons, but you cant actually seen the condition of the irons, the pics are stock pics and do not reflect the condition of the actual clubs, I know you can return them, but I am old school and like to see the condition before I pull the trigger and buy them....just like drivers, you want to see if they have sky marks, etc...before you buy them....

It was a bit of a joke , no specs on shafts for iron sets , I had a set in "my cart" and by the time I went through the process of checking out , they were gone lol

Yeah bit underwhelming. By the they arrive it would be hard to try them out. Guess GT is banking on that.

I tried to order a putter, but between adding it to my cart and checking out, it was sold. So I picked another putter and completed the purchase process, had a confirmed order, and they sent me an email a little while later just saying my order was cancelled because they were unable to fulfill it. By the time I saw that email, it was too late to place another order.
It was a very disappointing process.

It took almost 40 minutes for me to finalize the transaction. I consider myself lucky.
GT clearly didn’t invest in the IT backbone necessary to take on the number of clients wanting to buy. A copy/paste tweet saying keep trying Doesn’t cut it.

not impressed at all. Wanted the Epic bag that was listed, it goes onto your cart, but you cannot buy it as it is out of stock. This is an absolute joke. It would have been better to have it in store and limit clientele. The line ups would be long but at least you can see what you are buying. Epic fail.

I must have gotten very lucky. Went in looking for a Hybrid and while the website was slow for me, had no issues getting the model i wanted and was checked out and paid by 12:15. Shipped same day, should arrive Monday. Bummer that it went so poorly for people.

i tried checking out a few different ways, and found that apple pay was the most flawless experience. I tried using gift cards and paypal/or credit to no luck.

I did get an email from customer service apologizing for the gong show and they took details of the clubs and said they would get back to me ?

So , after all the dust settled , GT offered me 40% off any purchase of bags or clubs up to $700 ( one time deal up to nov 15th) , which in all fairness , is pretty good customer service , so I'll tip my hat to them .
The problem is , I don't need anything right nowAt the end of the day ... It gets dark

Interesting to hear some of the headaches. Definitely believe it with Golftown.
I hopped on the demo sale a couple hours late but still got my hands on a Cobra Speedzone in the spec I wanted. It came in the mail today too. I guess no complaints this time!
