    Thurso Course???

    Has anybody ever played here??

A couple of guys we chatted with at Smiths Falls just raved about it. Said it was as good as Montebello!!!

It's only 9 holes but two distinct tee boxes on each hole. Full 6,000 from the Whites.

Only $19 for 18 via GolfExtra

SF greens are good, lots of yellow on the fairways as of late July, may have greened up a bit.

    Pakenham and Madawaska

Played 36 match-play against a good friend today.

First 18 at Pakenham (Canyon/Lake). Greens were very good. Consistent and relatively fast. However, fairways were not good and tee boxes were hurting. We were first group out and service and greens crew very friendly. I always enjoyed this course. (won 2&1)

Second 18 was at Madawaska (Twisted Pines). I really wanted to check this place out. Everyone was very friendly, lots of kids out which was fantastic to see. I thought the course has a lot of potential. It is a kind of fun layout and very pretty with lots of Willows and trees. However, it was in very rough shape unfortunately. All areas of the course were hurting but the greens were especially rough. Pretty much unputtable in a couple of cases. Hope they can recover them. (lost 1 up).

Still fun to be out and walking 36 makes the beer taste good

I am sure you will like it. Its a great course for iron play. Some tight wooded holes, a few dog legs. Number one hole is kinda Mickey Mouse as its a blind shot between two humongous boulders that are part of the mountain. After that a tricky par 4 followed by a great par 3 and then the signature hole par 5 on top of the mountain overlooking the Ottawa river. Enjoy buddy

Dragonfly was in amazing shape , it's been a couple of years since I've played , and the course is fantastic, lots of subtle changes and alot of effort into improving conditions. Get a road trip organized and play Dragonfly & Whitetail and you'll be very ,very happy

yes Monte is tough, short but unforgiving. Some holes you have to take advantage of others just walk away with par if you are lucky.

I've noticed those too, earthworm casting. Not bad for the health of the greens I believe. approximately a million times preferable to grubs or cutworms
