Grip pressure
I constantly push the ball to the right. I tried loosening my grip and nice and straight it went. Anybody know of any drills to ingrain this?
Cheers
Ty
PS congrats on the Ace BCMist.

I don't have a specific drill in mind but I can vouch for the effectiveness of lighter grip pressure (I suspect the vast majority of golfers grip the club too tightly). I have made this change a major focus when at the range and "feeling" it through my pre-shot routine. It is amazing that such a minor alteration in grip pressure can have such a profound effect! It is still going to take some time getting used to it but loosening my grip pressure has created more consistent ball contact, a straighter ball flight (allows for a proper release) and greater distance (due to lack of tension). The only "problem" at this point is that I now draw the ball from time to time and hit many straight balls as opposed to my short but reliable fade/slice. Trying to eliminate one side of the course is challenging at the moment but I can live with that.
In order to "feel it" I simply focus on having the grip properly set in my fingers and focus on keeping not only a lighter grip pressure (maybe 4/10) but a consistent grip pressure throughout my swing. I have a tendency to stiffen at impact thus leading to a type of "hang on" move that inevitably leads to a weak block or slice.

If your still pushing the ball with light grip pressure try these:
1. turn your left(top) hand just a little clockwise at a time until you get a ball flight where the ball starts drawing back to the centre. Or,
2. Place a golf tee under your left arm pit and swing through without dropping the tee. A lot of "pushers" allow the left arm pit to open in the mistaken belief that the club head must go down the line. It does not. It comes around immediately after impact and a connected left armpit helps to ensure proper swing path and release of the leverage angles, without any other conscious thought.
