Security on this forum
I have a question for Dan before he leaves or any other mods who can answer. Why is this site not secured? If you have a look this morning, someone has been screwing around with the forum posts. Just wondering how come. Most other forums i am on are secure.
Thanks

Clean-up in aisle 3
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

So 2 years later and the owner has not answered my question. Why is the OG forum not secured? The TGN forum is secured. Can anyone explain this to me?

I agree Marcos. Why doesn't the new owner respond?

Not sure about security but the wake up call was reading a poster’s question about a free round on their birthday and the reply offered was a link to golf at Nation. Maybe this site is an extension of the course?

Is HTTP safe?
This week the host provider installed a secure certificate on the OttawaGolf.com FORUM server.
It resolved nothing. In fact, it appears to have stripped the site of all decoration and leaves it looking very broken. Have a look - but fair warning. IT IS UGLY! https://forum.ottawagolf.com/forum.php
So the current HTTP forum has 81,902 threads, 529,073 Posts, and millions of links. The host provider says his TECH GUY is very expensive but is willing to take on the work to make the site look nice, fix all the links and make it secure. Not a financially appealing proposal.
So... what to do next? OttawaGolf plans to contact vBulletin, the software provider to explore options in hopes to discover a reasonable solution. Perhaps this could be considered a winter project? Don't know.
As for the members, guests and browsers... you must decide what is best for you!
Is HTTP safe? It depends. If you are just browsing the forums for a good read, posting your golf stuff for sale and searching for a good buy, I have read HTTP should be fine. But do your due diligence and find your level of comfort.

Free golf
Not at all an extension of Nation Golf. I was hoping to be helpful - that's all.
BUT... the real wake up call Johnyc is not everyone knows about FREE GOLF ON YOUR BIRTHDAY. And what a great gift from Nation Golf! It is a really good discovery and there were other good offers posted in the reply to wake up to as well.
But Nation? Very nice course. Nice folk.
Ya see, OttawaGolf had just sent an email to the subscriber list advertising Nation Golf free round on your birthday. And now, more people know! Subscribe to OttawaGolf.com exclusive email updates and never miss another great deal like this.
Waking up to 70% OFF deals in your inbox would be a good call.
or 3 free rounds at GolfOMax.
or $110 OFF a Portable Launch Monitor
or Year End Clearance Sale to save you big bucks...Last edited by MikeRaganold; 10-15-2021 at 10:12 AM.
