Another letdown. Played Lombard Glen yesterday. It has been a year since we played and always enjoyed the course. It was in less than mediocre shape. Fairways were extremely dry and hard---HUGE dead spots all over the course--rough uncut-greens uncut (at least cut too high)-well used t-boxes and weeds starting to take over. I had heard that the course was sold ???? It can still be saved but needs some planned maintenance. 50.00 "special price"---not worth it. Free replay-----no thanks!
    Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

Played Sorcier on Wednesday---just before the rain. The course was in excellent condition--well done guys Now if we could just get the welcome attendants to be a little more attentive when emptying your trunk---relax guys--we are her 45 minutes before t-time

Played Greensmere Legacy yesterday, it's in awesome shape. Greens were fast and firm as usual. It's near the top of my list for best value in the city.

    Played the Marshes today....
THE GOOD - Fairways and Greens were in absolutely amazing shape...(save for the ball marks that don't seem to get repaired. Must be due to the Green fee special after 3. Cheap price and lots of extra play.)

THE BAD - The bunkers require some attention. Not very well manicured and inconsistent levels of sand. Looks the sand was just dumped. This appears to be an ongoing issue at the Marshes. Some of the tee boxes also seem to have an overabundance of crabgrass taking over..most prevalent on #17 teebox.

THE UGLY - To the moron who decided to take a 6 inch divot out of the 16th green just behind the hole that was cut in the back right of the green today. Your mother must be proud. You should be banned from ever holding a club again.

All in all the course has been in great shape this year. If a bit more attention was paid to the maintenance around the bunkers, it would be back to the glory days of being the top public course in Ottawa (IMHO)

KOKO's assessment is spot on, greens and fairways are excellent. The bunkers have always been an issue at the Marshes, especially the larger size rocks that are not visible until you clank a club. I played Marshes during the week and there were far too many ball mark's left without repair, that is an ongoing rant. Kinda sad when you have to repair your own and then 3-4 others. There are a few tee boxes on the back 9 that are beat up or infested with crab grass, 11,14,17 come to mind. Did not notice the gouge on 16 green must have happened in the past couple of days.
However at the rate I pay, $55, for golf, cart and range the value is hard to beat for that caliber of course.

For over 40 years of playing golf in Ottawa/Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec today was the first time I played Montebello. WOW...what a gem of a course. Scenic vistas and some great elevated views from some of the teeboxes. The 5 par 3's are the nicest holes I have seen in the region...Greens were in excellent shape and just the right speed to make you think. This is a course that Driver is not your friend if you aren't hitting it straight as most of the fairways are narrow and are cut between lines of trees on both sides. Medium Length from the Blue Tees (6308 yards), but can be extremely punishing with undulations and huge drop offs. Fairways were acceptable with a few dead spots, but not really an issue. The green complexes can be brutal if you find yourself on the wrong side of the pin. Putts can get away from you very quickly with some of these slopes! Wedge and short irons have to be hit to the proper spots on the green depending on pin position....uphill putts are your friend. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and will definitely go back again many a time. Don't know why it took almost a lifetime to get there.
