    Custom driver vs irons

    Hi there

I had made my mind up to get fitted for irons and was gonna go with KZG or similar. Now I am thinking my irons can wait but my driver might need to be changed.

Why is it that I am thinking that the big name drivers are better then the custom ones? Anyone with experience with custom drivers?

    thank you

Get in touch with "upanddown" on this forum. I'm sure he could answer any questions you might have.

He very recently took ownership of a custom driver.

I started playing with a custom driver (KZG) a month ago. It has made a significant difference having the driver with the correct length, swing weight, shaft, and head. It has helped me eliminate misses on one side of the fairway. I have taken misses on the left side out of my game.

My distance is decent (240 - 255 yards), and allows me to use a driver on tighter holes and keep my ball in play. It is refreshing to be able to hit a shorter iron into greens.

My only regret is not getting fitted for a driver years ago, it would of prevented me from having a driver collection sitting in my garage.
Determined to keep the rough trimmed. One swing at a time.

Maybe not a custom driver per say but anyone struggling with the big stick would greatly improved his game if they had it shortened to a 3 wood length. Chieflongtee turned me on to this idea a few years ago and i have never hit my driver so well.Well worth it.
