    Outrageous UPS Charges

I just received a golf gadget from the USA that was $125(Can)

    UPS charged me:

    CA Customs HST -21.68
    Brokerage GST -4.73
    COD GST - 0.55
    Total Govt Charges 26.96
    +
    Brokerage Charges 40.65
    +
    UPS Shipping charges 38.36

ALWAYS REQUEST NON-UPS DELIVERY!! I've never been charged like this using USPS...
    Total -105.97

Ogdensburg is also a great option if you are stuck with UPS. I have done this quite often - UPS to yourself at the UPS Store in Ogdensburg. Cost $5 per package and a drive down/back. I have been hit and miss with customs charges at the border depending on the season. USPS is still the best option IMHO.

Oggy is best for UPS, there are no charges at the border, just taxes, fill up when your there and it makes the trip worthwhile.

You can ship any method (USPS, FedEx, UPS) to the OGS UPS Store or MyUSAddress location. Free bridge toll after every 3 packages at MyAddy.
