Is it crazy to carry two drivers (like a 9* and 14*) and ditch the 3w?

I've never gotten along with my 3-woods, and rarely take them out of the bag. Love them at the range but not on the course. I had a thought the other day after coming across some nice 14* R15 and SLDR drivers, that maybe I could add one of those with a shorter shaft (swing-weight adjusted etc) to go with my 9* driver and leave the 3w at home.

I have a nice 16* hybrid I'd rather use from the fairway, so I'm thinking this makes more sense as it gives me two comfortable options off the tee. Does this make sense, or is this the rambling of a golf ho looking to calm the itch? A bit of both, perhaps?

Nothing wrong with dropping the 3W for a shorter, higher lofted driver that you hit better.

It's smarter than carrying around a club you can't hit well.

So what you're saying is, I should get rid of all my clubs except for my putters? 😜

That's one interpretation. The other could be you (or others) just carrying a bag with balls around the course.

Dave, are you trying to replace your 3W off the tee, deck, or both? I read 2 options off the tee, but are you thinking there will be enough distance difference between the 2 lofts to make it worthwhile?

Ask Phil, he had 2 drivers in the bag at Augusta a few years ago. In my opinion you are allowed 14 clubs and can switch whatever you want and double up, pretty sure the rules allow it
