Project X shafts w/ solid core

hi, i bought some used graphite shafts and finally got around to installing them, started drilling out the old glue and hit a Very solid cement like material. can't get a drill bit through all the way. yes, even the long ones. the bit shaft widens after the cutting section and won't follow the bit through. the solid section is approx 6" length.

Does anyone remember doing this for a golfer? maybe to add extra swing weight? higher up than regular tip weights?

what ever the reason, if someone could tell me what they used and thoughts on getting it out would be very helpful.
    THANKS.
