Proper Body Rotation Makes for Flowing Golf Swing
By Rob Knights

The golf swing is a flowing motion in which weight is transferred from one foot to the other as the body rotates.

This rotating motion is the connection between the starting position and the finishing position . The following drill will train the body to make the proper movement.

Place a golf club along shoulder line and fold arms across chest to hold club in place. Assume starting position with feet shoulder width apart, front foot rotated towards target, knees slightly flexed and torso bent forward from waist.

Next, rotate body (torso, shoulder and hips) toward back foot, so that approximately 75 per cent of weight is transferred to this foot and back faces target.

It is important the shoulders and hips remain on the same levels they started and the knees maintain their flex.

Complete the drill by rotating body toward target so 100 per cent of weight is transferred to front foot, hips and chest face target and body is at its natural height. Performing this drill repeatedly will instill the proper motion the body makes in the golf swing.
