    Stonebridge #8

was wondering if anyone knew the reasoning for #8 at Stonebridge playing 406 from the gold tees and 370 from the blues? I can't recall another course that would have a 3rd level tee set with a hole further back than the 2nd level tee?
I have also seen #15 at Marshes playing shorter from the blues vs. whites, that is however a rare occasion.

I have asked the marshals a few times but never got an answer. The way I play these days the 406 on that hole is to much for me so I play from 370.

It was that way yesterday at the Marshes; it likely has to do with changing the angle, which, IMO, does make it more challenging.

The gold tees are a combination blue/white, and on that one hole black tees. Presumably they did it that way so they could get a specific yardage or rating.

Played yesterday...that was a really fun hole to play with so many options. We were off the black tees which took the left fairway completely out of play. My guess is that the Gold tees play longer but give the option of going down the top fairway leaving a much better angle at the green.

The top fairway isn't really a good play from any of the tees. There used to be three bunkers between the upper and lower fairways but they took the last one out several years ago. With that gone you just take a line towards the green and in the worst case you have a lie in not very long rough.
