Whitesand (also has a par 3 course) in the East end in Orleans has the driving range grass/mats, and chipping green.

19th tee and Kevin Haimes are the other two ranges in the West end about 30min from downtown.

I would say Falcon Ridge on Albion Road is very good value, not far from downtown via the Airport Parkway, and it has two large putting greens, a chipping/bunker practice green, and both matt and grass hitting areas that you can use any club to hit out onto their large driving range. Having said that, if they would replace the very tired green carpets on the hitting matts, and add even a little sand to that practice bunker, I think that would qualify Falcon Ridge's practice facilities as being quite good.
And, I should mention, over the winter, Falcon Ridge's two HD indoor golf simulators are really good.

i asked about the hitting mats and they said they had new ones and would be installing them soon. It's a decent range but I really wish Haime would open one or buy an existing one in the south end. Once you go there, it's hard to go anywhere else.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Are there any ranges in the area that are allowing hitting off the grass yet? Seems like everywhere still has "Mats only" in place.

I think Target on Bank Street is allowing hitting off the grass.

BTW the closest range to downtown is actually in Gatineau just off Highway 50 at the Rue Saint-Louis exit just after you cross the Gatineau River. Nothing fancy but a decent range to hit a few balls.
