Played the front 9 holes today. They are open too soon. Fairways are wet greens are terrible, it needs another week at least

Welcome to Mattamy Homes ownership. I was shocked they were open so soon.

Anyone play there today, could it have dried out somewhat since yesterday...?

Played today.
There were some mushy spots but no standing water anywhere and was definitely fine for the first weekend of the season.
What's more disturbing to me is the number of bunkers they have removed from the course. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

I didn't play it last year so I don't know exactly when they started to remove them.
Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

a few years ago they removed some.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

These were done recently. Probably at the end of last season.
Here's a hole by hole list from memory comparing to Google earth.
1. Bunker behind the green.
3. Second fairway bunker on the right. Bunker at the end of the fairway.
5. Fairway bunkers on the left side.
6. Back bunker.
8. Left greenside bunker.
10. Two of the left fairway bunkers.
11. Reduced the size of the left greenside bunker.
12. Left fairway bunker.
14. All left fairway bunkers.
16. Back right greenside bunker.
18. Back left greenside bunker (?).Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

According to the Greens Supt that is exactly the reason they were removed, but at the time he was removing the fairway bunkers on 12 and 14. Wonder if the removal will lower the course rating ???
Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

Conditions yesterday...
Tee boxes have all been aerated, fairways as well. ThIs was likely done late last year, and there has been no recovery yet. A few areas on the fairways remain saturated, but as mentioned elsewhere by jvincent above on Friday, there is no standing water. Greens are punched, quite slow, likely not cut since last year. The bunkers, those that remain, have not been touched since last year, and are mostly unplayable by their hardness and their not being raked... A very helpful list of the bunkers that have been eliminated exists above in this thread (thanks jvincent). At a spring special rate of $57 for prime time play, it is not worth it, perhaps at $40 or $45 (afternoon rates equate to that) but for those who are willing to pay a premium to play Stonebridge at any time, it is one of our most challenging courses.

That's disappointing to hear
I like to call it a power fade
