Golf Fitness?
Hey,
Does anyone know of anywhere in Ottawa that offers fitness programs geared specifically toward golf? Google really isn't getting me anywhere.
Thanks!

A friend of ours son is a 14 yr old ranked tennis player and he goes to the place located at the Sensplex. He mentioned that there are golfers that attend the facility in fact we are looking in to it for our son. This all came about last weekend so this is all the info I have.
Don"t know the name but I know where it is.

You could look into this. I don't know anything about the program or the company. I was looking into them for something else when I saw the program.

Yeah I tried to look up info but I can't find any info on any fitness programs there, let alone golf specific ones.

You can also check these guys out. No experience with them myself, but TPI is the biggest golf specific certification.

Tony Greco had a program specific to golfers. Likely pricey.

The Fitness Lab in Manotick is doing golf specific classes a few times a week this season.
It's not golf specific but Human 2.0 does a lot of movement and mobility work that would be great for golf.

You can also look at http://dlgolffitness.com/. He's been working with Greyhawk members, but has his own operations working out of a gym near Trainyards.

Allen Hicks of Evolution Physiotherapy is TPI certified. I had a golf exercise program based on my TPI assessment done last Fall.

For those who prefer to do home workouts, or don't have the time or inclination to head to a gym, and want something you won't need to break your wallet for, I would strongly recommend the Foundation Training DVDs. It is a training system designed help cure back pain, and focuses on the lower back, glute and posterior chain of muscles. The base exercise that the training system is built around is actually very similar to the posture required for a golf stance.
This system will strengthen your core, lower back and hamstrings so you have the strength and stamina to maintain the posture needed for a solid golf swing.
$70 for the 2 dvd set online, and possibly a yoga matt is all that's needed to start.
For anyone who's ever had any kind of back pain, this will help you immensely.
