Emerald Links East #4 hole

This will make a lot of people that play Emerald Links Golf course very happy. The tree that blocked almost 90% of the second shots to the green has been taken down.

I really think that trees are an important design in the golf course and when they are cut down for whatever reason its a shame. Hope it was a disease and not by demand.

If I can recall, that tree was right in the middle of the fairway. Kinda quirky. Never a fan of hitting a decent shot, right in the media of the fairway, and being blocked. That said, it was one of the few defences on the east side.

One day, I was going to get a choked-up low 3 iron under that tree and on to the green. My 75 consecutive failures had not shaken my faith; I have never once parred that hole. I regret the loss of that tree; it made the hole memorable (not in a good way on my scorecard, but memorable).

Some disease, and popular demand. It was a great hole when it was first designed, but as that tree and the trees lining up the right side of the fairway grew it became almost impossible to have a shot at the pin unless you were completely passed the fairway tree. Also, in the last couple of years the course is being watered more than it use to, so you are no longer getting the roll of the old days when fairways were much firmer than today.

Gives the hole a bit of character. A lot easier to get over the tree from the back tees than it is from the front of the tee box. I love it when my playing partners hit into it when there are a few skins on the line, especially when I have to give them a stroke on the hole.

Was unhappy when the tree on right corner of Premiere#15 went down. The tree had forced a fade shot but when it went down it allowed a draw without going into the left bush. My advantage was gone and my golfing buddy and our wives (from the whites)could suddenly outdrive me on that hole.

The replacements don't seem to be able to grow with all the hits they take!
